I went to guitar center today to try out my next purchase. My budget is $300 to $350. I play pop-punk and some Cure type music. The guitars I was looking at were;

Epiphone Dot Studio
Schecter Omen 6
Squier Jazzmaster 2

Which one of those guitars would be best suited for my tastes. If it helps I have a Behringer 60 watt bass amp and a Digitech Grunge pedal. Thank you.

My Omen 6 is a great guitar for just about anything... just play a bunch of em. Great fretwork, like the neck, stock pickups aren't bad...

I've always liked Jagmasters though. The new ones look nice. They're short scale though if I recall correctly...

I guess the most conventional choice would be the Omen for the kind of music you play, but I think the Dot and the Jag have equal appeal to me. Be different

Re: Choice of Guitars

Id suggest getting a nicer amp first. A a crappy guitar through a nice amp will sound better than a nicer guitar through a crappy amp. What guitar are you using now? If its playable, get a new amp and upgrade your pickups. Check out a used Classic 30 or a used tube amp. Your tone will be much better than a new guitar. My US Masters Super T and G&L Legacy sound like crap though my Fender Frontman, but my sisters Sustin Sounds good though my modded Classic 50.

It works good actually. I just have a Squier Bullet Special with an Invader now and it works just fine. I like the omen alot though. Its really nice. I just hate how the input jack is on the side of the guitar, makes me scared my cord is gonna rip it out if i hit it.

Re: Choice of Guitars

Im going to for my wireless when i get the guitar. Its really between the omen 6 and the Dot becuase i havent played the Jazzmaster. So its between those 2 now.

Re: Choice of Guitars

Im also thinking of a new bass, an OLP MM-2, either blue, natural, or grey. How do thos sound.

Re: Choice of Guitars

My amp isnt crappy for me as Im a bassist that also plays guitar. I need a bass amp more than a guitar amp.
