Re: Damned Guitar Techs . . .

Yeah, this is what all pros do, the **** things up intentionally so they have more work.
Seriously: Do you guys listen to yourselves sometimes? Or do you just drift in and out?
Getting the amp back ASAP is definitely a Priority at this point, but assuming it´s totally FUBARed just because it took longer is total bull****. Or do you **** up at work as soon as something takes longer than expected, too?
I dunno . . . if I took my car in to a garage to be repaired and they said it would be a week or so, and then they said they had to order parts and it would be delayed by a month, and they they said that the parts still hadn't come in for another month, and then they said that the work was taking longer because the car had an engine that they weren't used to seeing, and then you get fed up and say 'screw the repairs I just want my car back', and they tell you that they won't be able to give you your car back because they aren't doing the work on it and they don't know when the person with your car will be able to bring it back . . . then finally after a total of about 10-15 calls in a 3 1/2 month period they say that they hope they can get the amp back that weekend . . .
You can call me crazy, but if that happened with a car, a guitar, an amp, whatever . . . YES I would probably think that they have screwed somthing up, or at the very least they don't really know what they're doing.
And as to your other question, I'm an engineer. If I don't know how to do somthing it's my responsibility to report that. When I say that I'm going to do somthing on time at work and it's not completed there is hell to pay. If I notice a project is taking me more than my budgeted hours, it's my responsibility to report how long I think the delay will be, and to damned well finish my work quickly. I didn't recieve a single call back from the music store about my amp to let me know what was going on - even though every call that I made to them I was asked to leave my phone number . . . again and again and again. I realize that there is no accountability for guitar techs, but I don't think that I'm unreasonable in expecting that I am told what work is being done, and that it is done on time. At the very least I would like to get my amp back when I ask for it. Not have to wait for the guitar tech to finally take a look at it and start trying to fix it.
Maybe I've just been spoiled, but I've never had to bring anything in for more than a couple of weeks to be repaired. And I don't buy the "it took 2 months to ship your parts crap" since I have had things shipped regular mail over ebay from France, Portugal, and the States which have all cleared customs in less than three weeks.
