I have a Peavey Classic 30 tweed Made in the USA in good condition. I just retubed it and the tweed covering has only one small tear on it.\

Well, I just advertised it for sale in the local newspaper fro $350. I received no phone calls about it. I know times are tough, but I expected someone to call and haggle or something. :)

What is the going rate for one of these? Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

Ive tried selling my classic 50 half stack for $450 with new tubes, No luck.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

Last time I bought one (about 3 years ago) I paid $300 at a music store. No new tubes, however. They are good sounding amps, lack a little in dependability. IMO

Yeah. I like the amp. I am just broke.
The funny thing is Peavey is considered good equipment in this area. Everybody has the stuff and it works forever.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

Never had an issue with mine other then being buried in the mix.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

I have just never gotten along with el84's.
But It always seemed this amp had some beef in the clean channel. I could see it being a workhorse amp for someone.

And I do find the blue marvel speaker is better than its poor internet reputation. I was prepared to replace it, but really never saw the need. These amps sound good.

But I see how it could lost behind a strong drummer on a stage. In a medium volume band it could be ideal.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

The clean channel is great. The dirty channel sounds really good as well as long as Im not playing in a band situation. Could be the cabinet Im using but the other guitarists 50 what Traynor Specials 1X12 combo stomps all over my classic 50 half stack. Love the tone, I just cant make it work.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

Sometimes when you are not cutting through, you need to turn your mids up. Or use very different eq settings than the other guitarist. But most of us do not use enough mid frequencies.
Jerry Donahue always said in interview he likes to get a lot of his high frequencies from his mid control.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

My mids are cranked on both the amp and my MXR 10 band. Ive tried everything. Its either the amp of the cab,

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

I've tried tried every eq setting possible, Could be an issue with the amp, sounds like a good reason to buy the Dual Terror Ive been lusting over.

PS. sorry for jacking your thread. LOL

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

too much treble makes guitars sound shrill and thin and to my eyes it really gets rid of definition. try turning it down to 0, mids to 10 and see what happens.

raise the treble slowly if ya need it.

I paid $400 for my hot rod deluxe.

i would not pay the same for the peavey.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

I think I would take $300 for mine. It is the older version. It sounds good. I just need money and it is not used much.
I do not want to do ebay though. Amp shipping is a killer.
I will try Craigslist next week.
I dread that.

I am using this amp to make sure some other items I am selling are still in tip top shape before I mail them.

This amp sounds really good. If I cannot sell it, things will be ok. I need money, but this amp has some sweet spots. Since it is Peavey it is easy to forget how nice it is. The 5150 (6505) is great for gain, but this one is nice for some in-between stuff. and pretty full in a tweed way. I have to upgrade my opinion of this thing. Hadn't turned it on in a while.

Re: Fair price for peavey classic 30

the Peavey's don't demand huge resale prices... it's been many years since i bought my C3o... but i've seen the C50 combo's sell for as low as $275-$300 used... even if it's larger i oddly see the 4x10 C50 sell for less then the 2x12... to me it's insane how cheap you can find the Classic series amps... i already have 2 or i'd buy more at those cheap prices...

i have to admit they are the perfect amps for me but they do work well for a lot of things...

my C30 10 years ago used with the matching tweed 1x12 i paid $450 for both combo/ext cab... my C50 head i snagged for an amazing $250...
