Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

Re: Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

Does anyone play an Ovation unplugged?

I wouldn't play one if you paid me -but they do make a guitar sound that is wooden in nature from the existence of the soundboard/top -thus proving the point Kingswebe was making.

To me, they are only good for sliding off your lap

Re: Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

I play an Adamas (carbon fiber) both plugged in and unplugged. Wonderful guitar.

We might as well be debating Ford and Chev.

You guys are spazmatrons :)

Re: Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

I had a Hamer 335 that I thought sounded too bright and brittle compared to others, one time 20 years ago playing in Nashville, the band we were opening fors guitar player (-who is now one of the most well known guitar players in the world) borrowed my Hamer when his 335 and his backup had an issue -he played the whole set with it -and suddenly the Hamer sounded amazing to me.

Last year he borrowed it again -just for old time grins.

Name or I call BS

Re: Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

I would be absolutely destroyed if my band's name made it out onto the internet and word got around about who we were and the quality of our music.

That being said, I traded the band life for a good wife back in college.

Tough crowd, I just want to talk about guitars and gear and god forbid....tone, not promote anything or such

Probably a good trade you made there.....

Re: Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

So while we are on the subject of tone. Which cable gives a better tone, straight or coiled?

Are we going to be serious about this or not?

Now, back to the only thing that matters when considering tone - pick choice.

Re: Feeling argumentative? WARNING TONEWOOD CONTENT

I avoid cables completely by using connectors and adapters from the guitar all the way to the amp. I also have to stand really close to the amp. But the tone is amazing. So transparent it’s almost true bypassed.
