I'm new to the boards and it seems most here lean towards the modern gear, hardware, etc. So I may be outnumbered when I say that Leo Fender's vintage strat trem is a work of genius and would be my choice hands down.

As long as you´re not grouchy about it, I don´t think that anyone will mind.

Properly set up and maintained, a V-trem can be amazingly stable, causing no problems whatsoever.... I actually like the way a V-trem feels and sounds, and I usually don´t miss the range of the Floyd too much..... But without a proper setup, like any other trem, you´re better off not using it

Hardtail, vibrato sucks the tone to much

i like my strat tone better without blocking, even though i never use it. It's just softer and less percussive to me with the dampening of the springs, i dont like tooo punchy a tone!

Alot of folks have mentioned that a trem set up properly is a great thing. Why would anyone not set their trem up to stay in tune and work right? Would you play your guitar out of tune or tune it up before a gig. It's a poor workman who blames his tools. If I can come close to what a player like Gilmour does with a trem unit than I still say vibrato, tremelo, whammy, wang-doodle.......

Hardtail all the way... But, I'm kinda wanting a guitar with a trem nowadays for adding shimmer to chords and some slight pitch manipulation etc....

But if I had to choose for life it'd be hardtail

I'm a hardtail man. I don't use tremolo for the same reason I don't use a wah. I barely have enough coordination to pick and fret at the same time. I can't add another plane of movement into the mix.

Hardtail for sure....although I do like the vintage trem on my Strat, and I'm building annohter strat with a vintage 6 hole trem.

Hardtail all the way if I had to pick one.

Well i like trem units and lots of them, but i want a trem unit that sound like a hardtail... but i still want to do dvie bombs... its pretty hard to find something like it...
