Gibson releases a new model. Theodore

Owww, that looks like sadness to me.

That Black Beauty LP Custom treatment looks fantastic on other guitars and especially the Firebird.

It's back...I do not hate it as much in cherry or black but I am still not buying one. I am almost digging the cherry.

NASHVILLE, TN (March 19, 2024) As it celebrates 130 years of music history, Gibson, the iconic global instrument brand, has shaped sound across generations and genres of music for over a century, becoming one of the most relevant, played, and loved music brands around the world. Developed from original drawings discovered in the Gibson Archives, the Gibson Theodore Standard is based on a guitar design sketched in 1957 and was only previously available as a limited edition Gibson Custom model that quickly sold out in 2022 as part of the Gibson Archive Collection. Today, 67 years later, Gibson is proud to introduce the Theodore Standard, now available as a global wide release at authorized Gibson dealers and via www.gibson.com.

Not for 2 grand, but I think the black one is kind of cool. I like the switch location. I don't mind the jack on the front either.

Nope, not at that price, but...it has a slim taper neck. Throw the 57 set in the trash and put in a BW or WLH set, and oh baby. I would rock that for part of the set just to see the confused look on everyone's face.

The original run had individual controls. So they made a Theodore Jr.? This one almost looks shorter scale than the first one (that or the body is bigger now?)

I think it's because it has a stoptail and a tune-o rather than a wraparound, so it looks like there's less empty space behind the bridge.

I can appreciate how every time Gibson puts out something new, guitar forums devolve as if Gibson is forcing people at gun point to buy the new instrument.

The new one looks alright, needs a better pickguard though.

Not me I have been GASing for a Les Paul double-cut for a while

For those who don't know the new LP DC was a response to the PRS 22 Singlecut being a Les Paul copy, so Gibson made a PRS 24 copy called the Les Paul Double Cut. One of Gibson's better new guitars, but you don't hear about it because people prefer stuff that riles Gibson hate

Just noticed that this thread is a year old.
I have to say that this guitar is soooo ugly that it hurts my head to look at it.
Yes, of course that is my opinion. But even if you look at it objectively (not considering esthetics at all), from a functional perspective, that guitar just doesn't make it.

I wouldn't even accept that guitar if it was given to me because then I would have the bother and inconvenience of trying to get rid of it.

It isn't just you. It is hideous. Despite the dubious history, Gibson really needs to hire new designers.
