I used the shaft of a screwdriver and a metal hairclip to roll mine. Worked really well.

I used the hairclip to scrape a little wood at about 45 degrees to the fingerboard, then used the side of screwdriver to smooth things off by rubbing it up and down the neck.

i used 400 grit spaper to roll the edges cuz i like to take stuff slow the first time i try it and it still went pretty quick.. took about 15 min to get it feeling good.
the brass nut on the SG didn't make it overly bright though it did make it MUCH more articulate over the crappy plastic stock nut. it sustains like crazy acoustically now.. i love what it did for the guitar. I went from stock to "o-bone" to brass and it will stay brass!

Afterwards do you need to file back the fret wire at all to keep it from slicing your skin?

well i didn't go nuts rolling the edges.. just made them softer and did not run into the issue of exposed fret ends plus the SG has a bound fretboard with the binding over the fret ends like gibson does.

This one just went back to a previous owner ... sadly. Wonderful instrument and allegely the one featured in their catalogs, the flash movie that appeared on the front page of the compay's site, and at least one buyer's guide. I'm definitely going to miss her:
