What happens in a year when you want the 5150 with the Marshall mod to sound like a Bassman?

Easy, I plug into my '70s Fender Bassman 10!

Hmmm, looks like I will be going the Laney route then. I've come to the realization that it's the sweet hi-gain British tone I've been hungering for all along.

Could you not get it biased for EL34s instead of 6L6s?

That would only solve a portion of the problem. Yeah, it would shift the focus a bit more towards the mids, but the preamp voicing is still completely different from a Marshall.

The Laney seems to be the way to go.
