Found this strat up for sale... Checked out the serial number and seems like it dates back to 1989. Somehow the shape of the headstock doesn't look quite right - looks a little smaller than normal? Also not sure on the print... Be glad of your thoughts! Have messaged Fender so just awaiting their reply.

Really you don't need to look much further than the Tele tuners, too small of a logo, incorrect coloring of said logo, obvious water slide decals, the "pat pend" on the "contour body" decal, and the presence of said decal in the first place to know that something's up with this headstock.
Steer clear.

I have a Baja Tele like that. Maple neck and truss at the body side. I don't ever recall seeing a Strat like that though

My 1982 'The Strat' is a fretted maple neck with the truss rod at the body side.

My ‘’62 and 66 Strats have the truss adjustment at the body, Philips no less. Basically you have to take the neck completely off to adjust it.

54-58' strats have the truss rod adjust at the heel, but those do have a brown plug in the headstock though
