Hi again guys,
I am starting this thread to show my current work. This will contain progress pics and a ton of other stuff involving them.

Feel free to ask any questions regarding building, a specific method, or how to do something.

I had showed a few pictures of my most recent guitar, a black ash topped explorer-type. I got it clear coated and here it is as it stands.

killer. that swoosh on the back of the neck is the icing on the proverbial cake.

Why the swoosh? Breaking the neck into that many pieces in that direction won't cause a breakage point risk?

Forgive my ignorance but are the grains on the top unfilled? or is it the pics? Should they not be filled if left unfilled?

That swoosh highlight piece you use, is that at the point of the scarf joint? Howcome you scarf it so low?

Yes, the "swoosh" is the scarf joint. It doesnt weaken it, it actually makes it stronger. A lot of high end guitar builders add highlight pieces there.

The scarf is low because of the thickness of the neck blank i start with. The thicker the neck blank, the lower down the scarf will end up.

Yes, the grain is intentionally left open. It is just my preference of a finish. Mahogany and ash have very distinct grain patterns, so i prefer to use it, instead of filling it and making the whole guitar look like a piece of plastic.

I've been thinking about building an iceman shaped guitar with that same top scheme (unfilled, black, ash).

Insanely good. What pups will you use?

Another thing I really like about your instruments is that you don't put dots on the front of the fingerboard. I'm a massive fan of the clean blank look, plus, with the way I play, I can't see them there anyway.

I am not sure on pickups yet. It is screaming for EMGS, but i have heavily considered a distortion and a full shred.
