Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with you there. None of those amps were recorded very well - I've heard my LEAST favorite Marshall put out a sounds that were better than what was on there.
Something was off in the signal chain - mic, EQ on the amp, something... all the tones just sounded dry and ratty and gritty.
You really have to crank older tube Marshalls to get them to bloom - maybe they just weren't dialed in the way I like to hear them.
Not necessarily that I'm not a Marshall fan, I think whoever made that demo could've done a better job. It was not miced up very well. At least that's my opinion.
