Re: Mexican made Fender

I think I read the same article drex did

Said there was a fire in the factory in Mexico
And some of the standards were made in America for a short period of time in the 90's

And that all of the painting was in Mexico
But they probably have changed much of that since the article was written

I don't believe any of the MIA. bodies were ever cut shaped or routed in Mexico
But some fine standing when prepping for paint may have happened at some point across the border

*(Sent from my durned phone!)*

That's exactly it, if they've done it before, then there's precedent to do it again.

For-profit enterprises are not known for their moral imperative. If there is a corner to be cut, you should assume they've tried to cut it. The fact that my MIA Tele had a third pickup route was itself a cut corner, the question is not if they cut corners, but to what degree they do so.

Re: Mexican made Fender

Given the circumstances, and who this is coming from, I take that as a compliment.

It wasn't a compliment. It was the farthest thing possible from a compliment. Just pointing that out to you since it's pretty obvious you missed it.

So ruining threads is a compliment? The fact that threads dissolve into you being so insistent that we are all wrong and us telling to back up and not be so damn pushy is your goal? Sounds like you have no interest in discussing anything at all. You just want to make people mad. If that IS your goal, you are certainly achieving it. Good for you, I guess?

Re: Mexican made Fender

Skepticism is infinitely useful on this forum.

See, here we agree. But I'll go further and suggest that skepticism is important on ALL forums. Hell, the whole internet really! Including articles that SUPPORT our own theories. These articles you read, DreX... did you apply your skepticism there too? Or only to the information that didn't support your point of view?

Re: Mexican made Fender

I'm not a fan of large corporations, and by and large I am confident in their ability to look after themselves. But people do work for them, and rely on them for their living, so we should be careful of spreading internet rumours that could effect the companies' bottom lines, if they aren't well grounded in evidence.

I was on another forum where a poster was claiming that the reason Gibson was putting the automatic tuners on their new models was to hide the fact that they no longer say "Made in USA" on the headstock. It didn't take long for someone to show a picture of the headstock with the tuner removed, and the "Made in USA" label was plain as day. But who knows, if someone didn't return to the thread, or does a bad google search, that post may come up again, and the misinformation is out there.

Those sounds that come out of the mouths of Scotsmen are barely considered English, so be rest assured, as you are safe. :p

Re: Mexican made Fender

Why don't we talk about guitars instead of each other?!!?!

Fine, you first. When you disagree with someone all you do is discuss and/or insult the way the argue or post. You never discuss THE SUBSTANCE of the argument! So if you want others to discuss just the subject matter, then why don't you do the same!

You get what you give DreX... if you don't like what you're getting it might be a clue that others don't like what you're giving. Respect begets respect, insults beget insults. Even here, for the most part, that applies.

Re: Mexican made Fender
