Might sell my 2210 ......

I've been looking at closing prices on Marshall JCM 800 2210's lately, and they certainly cost more than when I bought mine. With the new Splawn, I don't really need to keep it around. I was thinking of keeping it as a backup, but an LP Goldtop keeps calling my name.

I've heard some say the stock of 800's has gone up since Zakk Wylde, Kerry King, etc ..... But I hope these people know the differences between the models. Some of the 2210's are selling for close to $1300, and that is even for some early models.

I really want to keep it as a backup, but every time I look at the prices on Ebay I'm ready to list it. I guess I better make a decision soon. Any comments/suggestions?

Re: Might sell my 2210 ......

I say if you have ANY reservations, keep it. Original JCM 800 are increasing in value, and will only continue to do so. They will become increasingly rare in comming years, as people slowly wear out, mod, throw out, ect, these amps...just like the Plexi's of the late 60's and early 70's. There was no shortage of Plexi's when they first came out, but 35 years later there certainly is.

You won't be able to replace it easily or cheaply if you do decide you want one back. Unless you really, really need the $$, I think it's a good idea to keep it.

Re: Might sell my 2210 ......

I just bought a Carvin V3, and while it eats my JCM800 4211 (it's a 2210 combo with 2x12 speakers), I'm holding on to it as an investment. It's totally stock. I bought it for $800 2 years ago. Do I intend to sell it? No, but it'll be cool in 10 years to have a classic amp that's regarded the way original Plexi's are now.....
