monster rock cable: yes or not ?

hi
have you tried the rock cable?

i saw a video : the capacitance was too high for me

but i am curious about the sound

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

I say no because Monster is all about hype. I don't like hype.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

the price is very high
they said it's a good cable for the harmonics but when it's a good cable, the company says which capacitance it is

and here: no infos

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

i use monster jazz cables and a monster studio 1000. the studio is darker/fatter sounding than the jazz. i find the jazz very balanced. i have a monster rock cable and it is brighter than either of the other two. if thats all i had, id use it but i prefer the sound of the jazz. granted i purchased these 10+ years ago when i worked at guitar center so didnt pay retail prices. ive also had them go bad but got a free replacement with very little fuss. would i buy them at full price? i dont know, id be much more picky. but i have no complaints on how the jazz cables sound. the rock cable is brighter and i dont need that since i play a bf fender amp and bright vintage output pups most of the time

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

i like the bright sound

but i will try the Sommer cable LLX just to listen to it with the VERY low capacitance : 55 pF/m lol

about the rock cable, i have read that Slash used it but i am not sure about this info

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

I don't particularly like them because they heavily EQ your tone with that raw rock sound. Mind you, that's what it's for and it rocks for that. Not a bad cable. It's worth it if you must cut through.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

what does it add ? bass, warm tone and more harmonics?

the guitarists like low capacitance

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

Been using them for several years. Love them. Not terribly durable connectors but when I have tried some other stuff like GeorgeL, Mogami Gold or Spectraflex, I go right back to the monster rocks.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

The Monster Rock cable is pretty bright, but it also has a pretty full sonic spectrum unlike George L's vintage which I found bright and quite thin. The ones I have are about 12 years old, and I bought them because they were the only decent cables available where I lived at the time. In terms of higher end cable, I found Mogami 2524 to be very balanced sounding, but others have described it as dark. IME any low capacitance cable (Mogami is a bit higher) will tend to be bright, but it can still sound full if the conductors are large enough.

I'm not sure how widely known it is, but Monster Cable (the company) has a bad habit of suing any company with a name that even slightly resembles "monster". If I were in the market for similar cables today, I'd feel more inclined to pay those sort of prices to someone who doesn't act like a bully.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

I don't own any Monster Cables. I use Planet Waves and some I made myself. All of them sound great (I use the EQ on the amp, not an ED'd cable) and have lasted 20+ years.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

I've never had the 'windings' in my cable cause phase issues...

No. Monster nothing in my rig. PW for the most part for me. dont believe in the hype. Durability is way more important.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

and the capacitance? nowhere
but beautiful

I've used them for years, didn't know they added or sucked sound to or from your guitar ....i just plug them in and use them. Happy so far.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

I'm trying to remember if I used to have a Monster Rock cable and, if so, what happened to it. I think I gave it to someone, maybe the guy I gave my MIT Ripcord Bass to.

Okay, I ran and looked. The Monster cable I have is a ProLink Performer 500. (Why do I have all these XLR cables?)

Anyway, no. I don't have a Monster Rock. I do have a cable I made out of a 3-meter MIT audio cable. It has a lot of handling noise, but it hits like a sledgehammer.

Re: monster rock cable: yes or not ?

I think I have a few I got in a swap trade years back
For years I used only George L's
And they are brighter ,but the amp eq works OK for that

Mostly I use musicians gear braided cables and Carvin braided

I measure all against the George L's tho
