I've often wondered why most Korina guitars come in faded yellow finish. I guess they may do that to differenciate it from mahogany, but it would be cool to see Korina in a unique shade.

Well this isn't really a unique shade, it's Hamer's Jazzburst over Korina. Here's a pic of my Korina Artist HB. It's a 2001. Would you believe I found it in mint condition for $599 w/o case? Only thing was it was missing the plastic cap for the 3-way toggle. Stupid Guitar Center. :laugh2:

Congrats on your order, Evan. I'm a huge Hamer fan myself as I have 3 myself (I've had 3 others in my lifetime as well). I can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks for the post BTMN. I'll have to check out the Hamer board. I've been to the Hamer factory a few times: in Illinois and Connecticut. I've been really impressed with their craftsmenship and commitment to quality. They kind of remind me of they way we approach making pickups -- no compromise.

Evan, do you realize you've subconsciously spurned an interest in P-90 guitars this month. It goes in waves....this month it's P-90's.

Well, that's good. I love P-90s. This will be my third P-90 guitar -- but the first with Dog Eared P-90s.

hurry up! i want to see it!

You and me both. I think they're getting close to finishing it.

Uh, Evan, they forgot to route out the hole for hte neck P90. I think you should get a refund. Quick.

Thoughts?

I have played slide on this model and I can tell you it had the most cool wicked gritty bite. the whole store stoped what they were doing and stared at the direction the tone was comming from. I can play alittle slide but ime by no means a good slide player and yet this guitar made me sound huge. I know its a simple guitar but in combo with that p-90 it makes for a brutal cool blues tone :beerchug:

I can just tell it's going to be a player. Maybe I'll have to woodshed my slide chops once I take ownership of this puppy.

is that body HUGE, or what !! .. i mean, in that pic in post #56 makes it look as though it is about the size of an ES-335 ...

it's gonna rock for you evan, that's for sure !!

We're really getting close to the end on this guitar. And here are some final assembly pics.

In this one, you can see the tortoise shell celluloid material getting rough-cut on the bandsaw:

Here's Hamer co-founder Jol Dantzig shaping the pickguard on the sander.

If you think it's special that the co-founder of the company still works in the custom shop, I do too. The Antiquity dog-eared P-90 that's going into this guitar was also built by the co-founder of its company.

Hopefully in the next few days, they'll drill the mounting holes and the assembly will be completed.

I can't tell you how badly I'm jonesing to play this axe!

how much longer must we be tortured? i love simple guitars like that and hamers in general are just fantastic!! strung up with some 12's that thing would be a slide monster!! im guessing youre gonna want some extra turns on that pup. single pup guitars are a brave thing

I've learned one thing from this thread....I'm way too impatient to have a custom guitar built for me. I'd show up at the factory and stand behind them, looking at my watch, saying "I'M WAITING!!!! Is it done yet??? Cum'on dammit, hurry up, I don't have all day!

Here's the bummer of it all.... the guitar is now ready and I'm leaving for vacation next week. I just know I'm going to be traipsing around the Irish countryside thinking, "Dang, I wish I could be playing my Hamer."

Dang, dang, dang!

And to make matters worse, Jol Dantzig wrote me this morning to tell me, "This thing ROCKS! So much SPANK... you'd think it was an Esquire on STEROIDS! It sustains like a frikkin' PIANO."

OK, I realize it's not really a bummer that I have to wait a week after my international vacation to finally play my custom guitar. I'm not that jaded...
