I don't know yet. I have to hear it first.

If it was coming with the standard 24 3/4" scale length, I'd probably leave the stock Antiquity in there.

However, I think there's a good chance the extra 3/4" will give it a spank injection and I don't want it to be too bright. If it is, I'll just go in and wrap another thousand-or-two turns of 42 PE to add d.c. resistance and bring down the resonant peak. The result will be more output and less high-end.

Evan, those Specials are just that...special. Wonderful guitars. Just a suggestion regarding the "spank injection"...hehe...you might try a 250k or 300k tone pot. I have an Antiquity residing in a '56 Jr. I wanted to shift a tad away from the Tele side of the tone, and found a 250k audio taper to be just the thing. That Antiquity just snarls and spits fire. Thicker tone, with lots of punch and a top end that really cuts. As I'm sure you know, these guitars are not one-trick-ponies, either. Lots of tones in there, just by turning the knobs a little. Last I knew, Hamer made their own pots, with a unique taper. You might want to ask Jol. Enjoy your new Hamer...now you've got me gassin' again

I've learned one thing from this thread....I'm way too impatient to have a custom guitar built for me. I'd show up at the factory and stand behind them, looking at my watch, saying "I'M WAITING!!!! Is it done yet??? Cum'on dammit, hurry up, I don't have all day!

i'm honestly that way and it sucks...i was going to order a custom shop esp...8-12 month wait...i was all set to go then i heard that and canned the idea...then i was going to go with a jackson custom shop...6 months...canned that idea...my luthier needs 4 months or so to build it for me and i'm again up in the air on the wait time. waiting sucks when a wad of cash is burning a hole in your pocket that you have set aside for a new guitar.

Hey Scott F No one here offended. I knew you were teasing. I was just chiming in on a wonderful thread about a great guitar being built. I recently bought a '97 Hamer Standard with a one piece Mahogany body. No Flametop. Great tone. SD59'er Neck and Custom 5 Bridge pickups, YUMMY!!!
