NAD: VHT/Fryette Sig:X

Hey everybody!

This is my first post to the forum. In the past I always found some of the best information from here when researching guitars, amps, pickups etc. Because of this and because I am extremely excited about my new purchase, I wanted to join and tell you guys all about it!

I have just completed a rig overhaul by replacing both my old amp and cab with a VHT Sig:X and Mesa Rectifier 212 cab. I had been playing a Marshall DSL 100 and Marshall 1960a for a few years and just decided that I wanted something different. It didn't hurt that I found a great deal on Ebay. So far I like the change! What do you guys think? :naughty: I need to spend some more time with it as there are a lot of tonal options.

I am not familiar with Fryette amps but just looked them up, seems like a lot of features and bang for the buck. Also noticed that one of their current amps is KT-88 based, interesting... Congratulations on the new rig!! Very cool!

Thanks hydro. The Sig:X as well as the Ultra Lead are KT88 based. The Sig:X has two KT88's making 98 watts. I see that you are from Houston. There is a Fryette dealer on Westheimer somewhere. Check them out sometime!

That's an awesome amp man. Big congratulations. The SigX is a warm, versatile amp that will give you a LOT of tones.

Awesome first post.
I have wanted to plug in and record some tracks with a Sig:X since I read the review for the amp in Guitar Player a few years ago. Awesome amp score!

Holy cow. That's one of the best amps I've ever played, and I played it at Evans Music City, which I'm pretty sure is the dealer you're talking about.

Awesome! That's a badass amp!

There are a lot more VHT/Fryette amps popping up lately, and I like it. It has to be the recent price drop on the used stuff. I got my Pittbull for $700, back at the beginning of the year.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it?

I got it on Ebay for $875 before shipping. Right at $1000 all together. Not quite as good of a deal as some of the CL100's but still the cheapest I have ever seen a Sig:X. I've had to sell a few other things to fund it all but I'm happy with it.....for now at least.

Yes I bet that is Evans in Houston. I haven't been in there in ages. May have to check it out to see what these amps are all about. Sounds like you got a great deal - rock on!!

Love, love this amp. Only reason I don't own one is because they are very unforgiving so you always have to be on your game and makes me nervous for gigs if having a bad night. By comparison, my Bogner and Mesa are more forgiving and chewy with leads.
