Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

What does the Fender 014- country of manufacture code translate to?

[edit]Checked, MIM.

I'll pass.

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

I like the Jazzmaster but I wish they would reverse the colors of the pickguards for the guitars they are offered on. The black pickguard on the black JM and the mint pickguard on the sunburst JM would look much better than the way they plan on selling them.

Buy both and swap them. Easy. :D

I am sure the pickguards will show up on ebay soon enough.

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

It seems like a very simple swap. I posted a mock up. I think a mustang bridge, or tune o matic is in order. also, a duncan 59 and vintage for jazzmaster. also, schaller locking tuners, the ones that drop right in, eventually, a better nut.

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

I'd have no use for it, but it does look awesome:

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

Astrozombie, thanks for the mock up of the white pg on the sunburst JM. Can you do it with creme JM pickup and creme humbucker with creme mounting ring? I would think that would give it the more traditional JM look.

Also, without even playing one yet, I was interested in the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Jazzmaster pickup for the neck. I'd probably need a mounting cover for the pickup since they don't come with them new. Where does one get a cover that fits the larger pole pieces of the 1/4er? I doubt people buying these have to drill DIY style to widen the holes for the pole pieces, or do they?

kinda heavy. is it just me, or does that bridge resemble the jazzmaster one, but only has one solid groove, like a tune o matic?

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

I played a black HH at Guitar Center. Rosewood fretboard. It was ok, but I had a hard time keeping it in tune. The week before I played a black HSS with maple fretboard, it was sweet.

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

I'm happy that the sunburst jazzmaster is much more pleasing to the eye than it's stock fender photo. :D

Re: New Fender Blacktop Series

Sorry, Stratocaster, but now that I think of it. I believe the HSS version wasn't of the Blacktop series, it might have been a limited edition black HSS Mexican strat. Not sure though.

it has to be. the blacktop only comes in HH. some schallers are going into my jazzmaster. no doubt.
