Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

Just playing devils advocate, but i would look up the serial number. The neck may be american, but the rest might have started out Mexican.

Im hoping it turns out to be 100% bonified American! If not though, im sure its a fantastic guitar at any price!

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

...Sorry, not US made. The truss rod adjustment gives it away. Actually, not even MiM. Probably Squire-Grade with a fake decal. With a six-point trem it could only be one of the "Vintage"-grade US guitars, and by the rest of the spec it is not (22 fret neck, tuners nothing like any US model, etc.)

Pics of the back? Pics without pickguard?

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

It's obvious from the finish on the headstock. The rough edges of the truss rod entry point. Even the logo looks like it's printed with a bubble jet. But the body shape looks pretty good compared to other fakes that are rather contorted.

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

I don't really care, it sounds and plays great. It could be an American neck and body with different electronics and hardware. It doesn't feel cheap and it holds tune even with those tuners

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

I just dont see what they are saying about the logo
are those locking tuners?

I notice the lack of wraps on the posts
but I don't see the locking wheel on back
or the slot on the end of the post

I think they're the other type, but I like them.

Yup, non locking

ok so when the tuning problems start its gonna be the lack of wraps on those tuners
I honestly can't see how it stays in tune now
you dont have a full wrap on any of the wound strings

but if it works for you
Im happy for you

They're surprisingly good tuners.

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

Sorry to tell you, but the entire guitar is a counterfeit. The only thing that's Fender is the waterslide decal. At least you didn't lose $650 or more. But, you did lose $100.
It's a $150 guitar.

As always, if it looks too good to be true, it most likely is.

What are you on about? Having as little wraps as possible makes for better tuning.

you're the 5th person to say that. It's just the camera angles. This guitar plays better than most strats I have played, and it doesn't feel cheap like a fake would. so I'm still thinking it's a real American standard.

Only with locking tuners. Wrapping around the top of the post and then the rest of the way at the bottom of the post actually binds the string against itself. Locking tuners are only worth the money if you hate having to do this every restring. For plain strings, wrap around the top of the post twice before you start wrapping underneath the string.

Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!

If you're happy with it, then great. And you didn't knowingly buy a counterfeit this time which is forgivable but there are a few people who's opinions I greatly respect saying that this is a counterfeit. Based on the price point, I'm inclined to agree. Also the headstock says Made in USA. If this guy didn't sell this guitar maliciously (trying to score easy money by moving a counterfeit guitar) then he sold it stupidly, because he could have just looked at the headstock for the MIA.

I never really knew that. I just aim for as little as possible with normal tuners. It normally ends up one or two anyway.

Nathan has a real USA strat this time so back the **** off.

Yeah. I always pull the wound strings taut then get some excess by pulling from the first fret to the second. Wrap the excess around the top of the post and then wrap underneath as normal. For plain strings I pull back a fret and a half.

I would love to believe that Nathan has a real USA strat this time. I really would because I think it would be great for him. I just don't think that it's really a USA strat.
