Re: NGD: American Standard Strat!
The issue wasn't whether or not it was a good value for the money or anything. This issue was that it was clearly a forgery of a Fender Strat (proven when treyhaislip brought up a guitar sold from The Music Zoo with the same serial number and very different graining on the headstock). I also doubt that more skill and care was invested in Nathan's new purchase than a Fender MIA Strat.
It is a Stratocaster, it was probably made in the USA by someone who put it together from various components. If it plays and sounds as good as the owner says then this builder probably took time and care putting it together. It could be that more skill and care was invested in it than Fender puts into one of it's $2,000 quadruple marked up guitars. It may not have the pedigree to command a high resale value but if it was bought to play, not as investment or show piece then $250 could very well be a bargin.
