Re: Peavey 6505 Combo
From what I can tell so far it's not the most versatile amp, but it's far from the least. I'm not the biggest blues player. But I dialed in some decent hendrix type tones pretty quickly. It needed work, but I didn't mess with that too much. I don't even play metal really. I'm more of a rock guy myself, and I like how raw, and crunchy this amp is while retaining clarity, and good tone. Lots of good rock bands like blindside, turbonegro use this head. The clean channel was a bit dirty, but I didn't get to play with it much yet either. I've heard good things about using the gt-8 with the 4 cable method using the eq, and compressor for cleaning it up greatly. I'm gonna try that later. But what you're looking for I would definitely check out the marshall jvm it's a versatile creature. Within seconds with those 4 channels you can nail those great cleans, perfect hendrix blues tones, get solid rock crunch, and good metal shred. The only thing I personally liked more about the 6505 besides the price difference is the distortion vs. the jvms higher gain od channels. Not saying anything bad about the jvms high gain channels because they were amazing, and I'm sure most people would say they like them much better, but the 6505 distortion was more what I was looking for personally. On the downside the marshall had a way better clean channel, and was way more versatile, and %*&^ were those tubes hot!
