Vypyr is intriguing, but lastest gen doesnt even have FX loop.

I think Peavey's theory on that was they did not need effects loops. The TransTube circuits freed up so many DSP cycles, from the tube artifacts, they could handle all the effects in the software. True, you are limited to Delay, Reverb and one of the 11 rack effect options in the software. But you also have the 12 pedal options in front, so you can cheat a little and have a fourth.

In general, Peavey does not seem to have weathered the pandemic as well as some companies. Time will tell.

I think there was some real innovation with the Vypyrs and the Mini Heads. The Invective is like they combined a lot of the features from those with the 6505/5150. Other than that, yeah, not much new stuff seemed to appear. Maybe a bass amp or two, and sound reinforcement improvements.
 
I got this Peavey. Nothing is wrong with it. Didn't come with the footswitch, but hopefully I'll find one eventually. This amp is loud. On 1 running at 25 watts it's still really loud. Has two cleans with Vintage and Modern and 3 different distortions that's Vintage, Modern and High Gain. Very Peavey/ Marshall sounding. I'm surprised how much gain it has. The Vintage cleans sound like a Marshall. The effects sound pretty good, too. The effects are Tremolo, Funk Wah, Flanger, Chorus, Octaver, Phaser, and Rotary Speaker. Has Spring Reverb, Analog and Digital Delay with Tap Tempo. Damping switch with Loose, Medium and Tight. Have it set on Medium. The only negative thing I can say is the head is heavy.

I got the amp for $120 out the door. Feels like I ripped them off. Pretty cool amp! I got a killer deal on it :)
 
Whenever you power it on it goes automatically to the Lead channel and delay is always on. Kind of strange. Maybe the footswitch was used and last time it was turned off it had these settings? No big deal, though.

That is likely maximum consumption. You know the deal with rated output power.

Does it need one of those PC[something] footswitches? Another great mystery of life. Those amps shipped with the footswitch, and they mostly only worked with their respective amps, so where the eff are they all now, if not with the amps?

Still a nice score, in my humble opinion. If you cannot find a footswitch, let me know. I may try and build one.

I'm liking it. Doesn't have much highs but lot of mids and low end. The Vintage is crunchy and has more gain than crunch channels usually have. I would say the Modern is very Mesa and High Gain almost 5150 with a touch of a Marshall Mode Four. Cool thing is that the three distortion channels sounds completely different than one another. Really cool. The Modern clean is fuller sounding and the Vintage brighter. It's a pretty nice amp. I'm glad I got it.
 
So roughly, the XXL, Supreme XL, Triple XXX, JSX, and 5150/6505 all ascended/diverged from Peavey's Ultra series. None of them get a lot of love, but they can kick arse with the best of amps. People mostly do not want to admit it. Especially when they pay 3x as much for an amp with a circuit which electrically is so close. I can use SPICE.

And yes, I completely missed the voicing options. You are spot on here.
 
Very quite amp. Max the gain and still no howling feedback on all channels. No hissing. Even with effects on it is really quite. Hardly can tell its on.
 
Also, there is a drastic difference in the High and Low Gain inputs. Been rocking it most the day on the High Gain but switched to Low Gain. Still rocks 25 watts at Low Gain no problem.
 
I think I found my settings for all the distortion channels to where I don't have to adjust when switching. Low at 5. Mids at 3. High at 10. Gain at 8. Good treble at 10 but not brittle. You have to dial the mids down. Gain at 5 on Vintage is great for blues.
