The XXL, and ergo this 100EFX, does have some cool features. The circuit is really close to a Bandit, (voicings, power scaling/Tdynamics, etc.). However, the Bandit was 80W into the 8 ohm internal speaker. You had to add an external 8 ohm load to get 100 watts out of the Bandit. The Autoformer (? I think that is what Peavey called it) in the XXL is not a true transformer, but it matches impedances in a similar fashion. This amp also has the damping feature, straight from the Triple XXX. Not a bad amplifier, even if the "Tube Apocalypse" is NOT upon us. I was never big on effects, so I won't vouch for those other than to say there are the proverbial crap-ton of effects on my VYPYRs. But amps like this and the Transformer series laid the groundwork for the VYPYRs. I used to pit my XXL against my Triple XXX. Until I needed a stereo rig... then 2 XXL's were less expensive.
Vypyr is intriguing, but lastest gen doesnt even have FX loop.
Peavey, I think is done.
