Played a Dr. Z today....

Actually about 10 minutes ago! I put it on layaway immediately so now it's time to move some things!

But about the amp first:

It's a Dr. Z Maz Junior (18 watt) w/ Reverb and a matching 2x12 cab loaded with Vintage 30's. That was a religious experience! A $1500 for the whole rig I put it on layway and have til February to pay it off. I can make the money no problem, but I've gotta sell some things to alleviate the cost a bit, get ready for some things in the Trading Post soon!

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

I've been looking at those lately.

I just haven't spent enough time playing one before buying.

Z has managed to keep his prices down, so they look like a better value all the time, and they hold their value well on the used market, so it's hard to lose.

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

yeah....I'm freakin excited about it....but I gotta come up with the cash...and even at a good deal, they're expensive

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

wow...I can't find a picture of one like mine at all...it's just the black tolex with wheat cane or something like that where the cloth would normally be... wish I had snagged some pictures now

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

Dr. Zs are awesome amps, good luck with it. I played a couple at all volumes, a Maz Sr w/ Reverb and a Route 66 and I thought the Rt66 was one of the best amps Ive ever heard! The Maz was awesome too.

What What? Better than a Pro Junior? :smack: :laugh2:

NOTHING is better than a Pro Junior. That thing owns everything from Bogner to Trainwreck. There is no better amp in the universe.

Maybe we should make a pilgrimage so we can pay homage to the Pro Junior?

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

Dr. Z has set a great example that I try to follow when it comes to pricing my amps. I don't care for his ultralinear stuff that much, but a lot of his amps have great tone and are absolute great bangs for the buck!

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

The Z I'm getting looks just like this one only it's the junior instead of the senior model

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

I love my Z and I don't think I would trade it for any other amp save some serious high dollar vintage stuff. It has tone to die for.

by the way, whats up with those jewels? they look very different

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

Well I've got about $600 now from selling stuff and a bit of saving put away for my Dr. Z. I've got til February 1st to come up with the other $900. I've got some more money coming in January, and work all month and a few more things to sell, I think I'm gonna be fine :) If I could sell my Carvin, I'd be at $900+ :) anyone wanna buy a Carvin MTS 3200 head?

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

good luck with it bro!!! i know waiting to pay stuff off in layaway is a major drag...been there tons of times!!!

Re: Played a Dr. Z today....

where do I play/buy a route66 or maz sr.. I've been curious about them ever since I saw both guitarists in Deathcab for Cutie playing them... I love their clean and gritty tones
