Thanks. I had casted this neck in exile since a tech once told me that I trashed it. Turns out he was mistaken. My luthier confirmed the neck was playable. I decided to slap it onto this project. You can sorta see tru oil on it from practice runs I use to do on it. The headstock has tons of dings from just being tossed around and frankly neglected over the years. I'm pretty happy that it found new life, I bought this when I was a private in the Army. That's a really cool guitar. I really like the fretboard binding, you don't see that very often on a Strat.

Fender AVRIs (American Vintage Reissue), at least the older ones, have a thin skin nitro finish over a poly coat. It dries and wears down fast. I got this body off an eBay dealer, but it's apparent that this guitar was well played and loved. The body is one of the lighter alder bodies I've had and is pretty resonant. It looks cool, but considering how babied and clean it is, that finish ruboff feels like a hell of a QC flop for such an expensive axe... or is weak oldschool paint an advertised feature?
