PRS SE single cut P90 vs. SG classic P90?

Re: PRS SE single cut P90 vs. SG classic P90?

I went to GC with the intention of buying the SG Classic but walked out with a PRS SE One. I hate to say it, but the PRS SE One killed the SG Classic. The PRS SE series is by far one of the best bang for the buck guitars out there (even though I got bored and traded it for something else).

"Killed" the SG in what regard?

Re: PRS SE single cut P90 vs. SG classic P90?

The SG Classic has a big fat vaguely D-shaped neck and I, for one, have always believed that the neck is where tone lives.

I think there's a lotta truth in that statement.

I've never owned either an SG or PRS SE, I've only played them in store.

It's a tough choice as both are great guitars and I'd be happy with either.
It really would come down to which guitar I bonded with after hours of playing them.
I think the PRS pups are a bit brighter ( a plus ) but then the Gibson has the mojo.

However, the thought of the Gibson SG classic being discontinued would probably weigh on my mind and that might just be the deciding factor.

Tough call !

If you can pop for the difference in $$ The SG is world's better!! They are VERY good guitars.

I don't get where you guys are coming from calling the SE one ugly - I remember the first time I saw it - I opened up a guitar player magazine and it was the first ad, and my jaw didn't lift up off the floor for a couple of hours... I think it's my favorite PRS to be perfectly honest. There's just something about the less is more approach that I love.

I will say that the SE One is one fine-lookin' axe.

That may be true, but we're talking about an SG man. Hard to compete against in looks. Long, sleek, sexy...

there aren't many guitars whose looks even come close to lookin as good as an SG...but there are a looot of guitars that look better than PRS's designs...

All you really have to do is ask yourself; WWTKOTD? ( what would the King of tone do?). I think you pretty much know the answer in your heart, but just in case;

lol. Actually , this is a guitar Gibson has discontinued, and may never reissue for a long long time.Once the stock is gone from stores, I expect this guitar to rise steadily and perhaps dramatically in value. I got mine for a stupid stupid price from MF a couple of weeks ago(thank god fro credit cards).I paid 721.00 Scratch and dent. Me and my buddy who is a Gibson collector have looked it over. The only issue was a big smudge that I wiped off literally with my thumb. I expect this to be a 1200.00 guitar within 3 years. Even at 999.00 its still a tremendous value. Plays great and sounds even better. Im not ready to put it on a pedastal with my les Paul though.
Those who have the dosh, Id reccoemnd picking one up while you still can. wait for a Muscians Freind 15%-20% off deal. Thats what I did-15% off of the Scratch and dent price. I'm all about a good deal.

I can't say I agree with this. Beauty is very subjective in term of picking what guitar looks better.

For me, not many guitars look better than a nice PRS with a sweet maple top. It all comes down to what ever floats your boat.
