Those are nice guitars. They were an import brand for Gibson before they made Epiphone the import. FujiGen makes good stuff! I have an ‘87 Ibanez SoundGear from FujiGen.

+1 on the FujiGen stuff. The neck on my RG 7 string is from there... it’s incredible.

Do you prefer Stainless Steel frets or current regular alloy frets when you get a re-fret ?
Any pros or cons for the stainless steel ?

And for Fujigen : yes they did some good stuff. They even made the first prototype of the Jem for Steve Vai.

Jescar Evo Gold is great, easier to work with than stainless and more durable than nickel/silver. Also in the middle tone wise.

As others have stated, they were for the Japanese market to counter the Gibson copies being made.

I love the idea of SS frets but I fear the, from what I've read, "noticeably brighter tone".
Note attack is what usually makes or breaks a guitar for me.
So if I refret say my Ibanez (which I should) and it gets pingy or certain frequencies get louder in an unpleasant way, then that guitar's done, pretty much.
And that guitar damn sure is bright enough as it is.
That's one sexy Les Paul, by the way. I was really close on snatching a Greco LP not that long ago but I missed it.

I’ve refretted a few guitars with SS recently. They don’t sound that much different. You probably won’t even notice. What you will notice is how slippery they feel when bending strings.
I don’t know why so many guitarists these days complain about guitars being too bright. Just turn the treble down on your amp!

Sounds like you need to get someone to do a fret polish for you.
I bend a lot and my nickle frets feel like glass.
You are using guitar strings on your instruments, right? Hacksaw blades are better left for doing work in the shop.
