SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

If anyone in the forum has been able to try these pickups, I would love to know what you think. I've been very impressed with their sound and am considering buying a set in the near future.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

My Holcomb PRS should be here in a couple weeks tops. I will definitely post a review once I give it the go over. Haven't really read any major in depth reviews on the guitar, even on the PRS page, but the guys who own one LOVE them!

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Please do! They are 100% perfect for the heavier music I enjoy playing, but I'm curious to see what you and other owners think of their versatility, and if their aggression can be tamed with the volume/tone knob and the right EQ/gain settings.

I got my set a few days ago and have many great things to say about them. I currently had juggernauts installed in my Schecter C-1 Artist which is solid mahogany body with a set-neck maple rosewood fretboard.

The pickups are extremely clear even when under loads of distortion and very great for chords, didn't take long for me to find a sound I liked. My fav part about the set is how they have this snarling pick attack sound when you pick really hard and how every string rings out evenly. They respond extremely well to hand phrasing and the way you play in every pickup position. I'd say they are really versatile for any style of music and very well made and high quality. These are my favourite pickups atm next to bk juggs and emg 57/66.

If your on the fence about these I'd say go for for it cause it was the best purchase I had this year and would not hesitate to order another set. Currently waiting on the 7-string version and gonna grab those when they come out.

I will be doing a comparison/play video when I get the chance of the alpha/omega set along with, juggernauts and 57/66.

If there's anything else you would like to know just ask. :)

This is literally EXACTLY what I wanted to know. The other two pickups you mentioned are the other pairs I've been thinking about buying. And you even have them in a Schecter! Holy ****, dude, thank you so much!

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

I managed to record a small clip of the omega and supplied some D.Is, I'm not the best at mixing so I would recommend you try the D.Is on your own rig.

Wow, sounds awesome! I thought that snarling midrange Mark was talking about was an afterthought and more a product of his playing and amp settings. You can definitely hear it in your demo though.....palm mutes sound tight and angry as heck!!

Most definitely man, there was supposed to be more to this but I had a little accident with my back and won't be able to hold the guitar for a few weeks. But once I'm all better I want to finish this with alpha leads and cleans along with the the juggernauts and 57/66 in the mix. For this test I was trying out bias fx demo for the desktop in e-standard.

So, what are the B/M/T for this set? Output and sound compared to other duncan sets (for instance the distortion? Or full shred?)

There is very little info. Anywhere. I've read about "snarl and aggression, but with clarity". That's about it, and it tells me zip... :)

I can't even remember the last pickup Duncan bothered given a B/M/T for, Alternative 8 maybe? Don't hold your breath!

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

I really can't say about the b/m/t cause this can easily change with player/amp/guitar specs.

I can say the set is voiced very differently than your average duncan pickups and truly does have its own unique sound. I'd say it's balanced very well and every rig I've run the set through so far has sounded great. You really need to try them out to hear what I'm talking about, they sound and have a great feeling and your technique definitely pops out more.

Ok, thanks! What kind of music do you play? Think they are suited for some good old riffing, not just the Periphery style of things? I like the percussive description, that made me interested...

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

I play a few styles, some blues, metal and rock mainly. I do however like playing with clean stuff the most. Oh for sure man, I think the set is really versatile for anything, there just a perfect balance of output/tone/dynamic and so far there hasn't been anything I haven't been able to nail with the set, it's just really an awesome set haha.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ7nqMeWrmY Watch this video. I'm still trying to find as many tone examples of the pickups as I can before I buy them, but this video really convinced me that they're worth a shot. I'll be ordering mine very soon.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Alright. Just shot Curtis (P48) a Mail... We'll see.
