SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

IM still unable to find any decent clips of the EMG 57-66, JUGGERNAUTS(i think i ve found some), and alpha omega. AS well as the titans from dimarzio. it seems google and youtube are PREVENTING some regions of seeing/finding those clips.
i can only see some videos that i completely disliked. so im not counting these ones
from the SD clips i have heard so far, i wasnt that impressed with the alpha omega.

EMG 57/66: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcPuOwecVzE the Juggernauts have a LOT of good demos that I have found. I'm pretty sure Misha Mansoor has MULTIPLE demos of them, and as they're his signature pickups, he's the best tester possible. This is a great Dimarzio Titan review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4FoEGOf574 and check out Keith Merrow's channel for some Alpha/Omega stuff, if you didn't like what Mark Holcomb has posted. He does a great demo with the Driftwood Purple Nightmare amp. I also posted another video demoing them earlier in this post.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Keith Merrow has posted another metal bridge pickup demo, which features the Omega. Starting to get a pretty good idea of how this pickup sounds. It seems like it's pretty even, though with a decent bit of high mids to cut through. You could definitely turn up the bass and resonance controls on your amp with this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbRlcdNHYDM

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Sounds like the pickup that was used to dial in the tone was the nazgul haha. But I've been waiting for a new demo from Keith that includes the newer models, I'm digging that nazgul, needed a pickup for my 7 and I think I'm gonna scoop up the nazgul for it.

Are you possibly going to wait for the Alpha/Omega 7-string set, or just gonna get the Nazgul?

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Well there's currently 120 sets left to sell or was it 80?
Well I'm just looking for a low budget pickup at the moment and seen a few nazgul a for 50-60 already so I think I'll just use that until the 7-string omegas are available.

They currently don't offer the 7-string Alpha/Omegas to the public, but from what I heard from Mark and Keith, it will be available soon. Also, the Alpha/Omega will still be available for purchase after the first 200 are gone. They just won't have the special features (like Juggernaut: Alpha & Omega, the flash drive, picks, etc.)

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

I'd imagine somewhere around $300 still, based on how much custom shop pickups normally go for.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Ah! Do you think they will beable to purchase separately? Would like to grab the alpha some time in the future for a project of mine.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

Update: just purchased the Alpha/Omega set today. I will post a written review as well as tone clips here once they have been installed.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

You bought them on the 25? And just got them? When I bought mine I had to wait 4 weeks for them to be made and another 2 to be deleivred. Weird

Yeah, when we called Duncan, there was already a set ready to go (the day made was listed as June 4th) and they shipped it out to me in Pittsburgh on the same day.

Re: SD Alpha/Omega Owners: Feedback

That is strange man, my set was number 16, and was made on June 12 and wasn't shipped until July 10., I just found it a little strange for me haha but any who congrats on your set man. That alpha neck is really something huh?
