Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

So I'm sure I'm not the only person wondering this: how well would one of these work between two P-Rails?

And if I wanted it to be RWRP with the bridge P-90 and the neck rail, should I get the middle or the neck version?

I'd like to put two P-Rails (with the rails away from each other) and a Strat90 into an HSH guitar...

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I'm guessing we'd need an on-on-on switch for this? (yes, I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff.)

The bridge and neck P-Rails are already reversed to each other so I guess you'd need a middle that is reversed to the bridge and to re-reverse the neck P-Rails

I've been thinking this and while I'm not an expert I think an on-off switch should do it - if not then an on-on one.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

One on-off. All you gotta do is shorten out the remainder of the coil.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I have another which one to get question: I'm building a Tele and planning to put a P-Rail in the neck, a StraBro 90 in the middle, and a Tele pickup (or possibly a stack) in the bridge. What do I need to get as far as the P-Rail and StraBro go to get hum canceling in the #2 (neck/mid) and #4 (mid/bridge) slot when the P-Rail is split? In other words, so the StraBro is reversed wound from the split P-Rail and also from the Tele bridge.

Thanks for any help!

The rails are RWRP to each other, and the P-90s are RWRP to each other, so a middle pickup can only be RWRP to either the neck P-90 and the bridge rail OR the neck rail and the bridge P-90. I'd prefer the latter, but ultimately I just want whichever Strat90 will sound best between 2 P-Rails.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I would love to order one of these if it's going up for sale to forum bros around x-mas time (what a great gift to us, sell us a pickup when our relatives/employment are giving us extra cash). I could really use a pickup like that in my Squier Strat. It would likely get some actual play time. Red Lace Sensors are too compressed, kills the clean sound. THis pickup sounds great!!

As repeated (and felt) by others, thank you for leaving the specs to the masters.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Oh, so you could do it with a push-pull pot? I was kinda confused by Maricela's picture, since it has the mini-switch at the bottom.
I have a mini-switch in my Strat and it also is an on-off one. simpler to use than a push-pull that every time you pull you lose the setting you had on the pot (unless it was full on).

What the man said. It depends on WHICH coil you want it to be hum-canceling with.
When in full humbucking both the 2 and 4 WILL have hum since the StraBro90 is a single coil.
If they're split then you will have hum-canceling with ONE of the coils and the hum in all its' glory with the other.
Decide which of the two you'll be using for your notch positions and then get the "correct" pickup (just tell MJ what you need it for at the time of ordering and she'll wind you the right one)

Against the hotrails you just pick that coil in the hotrail that happens to be right polarity.

In the P-rails you need to pick, you can only hum-cancel against one of the coils. Then you need opposite polarity and wind from that coil.

I think there won't be a problem with that if you just tell MJ, in the order, that you want hum-canceling against the P-90 rail in a P-rails.

Just to let all know I had a visit last night from Santa, yes before Thanksgiving and he asked for my help with all the economy troubles. He asked we keep the special untill christmas day. We will keep the prices at $110.00 each or $300.00 for the set. How could I say no Mr Claus? I love him and I know he wants each one of you to enjoy the holidays also!

Wow, just when I thought I couldn't have any more respect for the people at Seymour Duncan. I haven't seen a business treat it's customers this well since... Well, I've never seen a company treat it's customers this well. Now, I'm not longer in a rush to dump all of the gear I've been trying to move, and with a little luck, I should have the funds for another forum pickup soon.

Let's give a little cheer for the folks at SD. I'll start:

Hip.. Hip... Hooray!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

HOORAY!!!

Honestly, this is the BEST news ever!!!
While I'd like to get mine as soon as the dollar turns (in my favor that is) it's nice to know that I actually have some time to wait for that to happen!

Who knows, depending how much I like them there's even the chance I might get another neck+middle!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

It's a good move. This pretty much guarantees that I get three, not one. I'm just not willing to unload unwanted pickups right now, nobody's buying.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Does this mean the production run is going to be later? Because I am absolutely fine with that if the deadline is Christmas.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

If MJ can make the wind & polarity of the Strat90 by request then I'm set. It's just a question of which Strat90 is the best complement to a P-Rail pair (presumably a middle).
