Re: SDUGF Pickup - What's Next?
i like that...
What do you say about a BroBucker round 2 (in Strat size though)?

I thought that choosing the technical specs might not be the best way to go - a lot here agreed with me. It is more important what a pickup would do.
I made a few threads and posts asking people to give ideas about what would be a good pickup - there were a few ideas that no one was able to develop - like the "perfect middle pickup" but as a whole, ideas were not flowing.
Will an all technical poll with results like "7k, aged alnico 2, staggered" or "14k, alnico 8, rails" be more suitable and tempting for users? I'm really not sure about it.
Some kinda hopped up Strat/Tele bridge pickup would be great...
Something hotter and thicker then "vintage" but not blown out like one of the rails...
Needs to balance with a "stock" output set of single coils.
There's IMO... a real need for that kinda thing.
I've wished it existed for at least 10 years now as an over the counter solution... and I've been through a LOT of pickups...
It's not out there.
Personally, that wouldn't be my first choice but like you said, I could get behind thata tapped strat pup voiced like a p90 at full output and a more traditional strat tone with the tap should be something that lots of us can get behind

Yeah, that's what this pickup was supposed to cureI haven't owned an HSS guitar in eons... could never get the balance right. JB with SSL1's... I'd go to the singles & the output dropped off the planet. Eventually had a '59 and QP's... much better balance, but I lost the tone...
The bottom line is that you are the User Group and this is YOUR forum. We threw out the offer and we'll make whatever pickup you want.
However, if we can only get a few takers for this pickup, it's not going to result in great economies of scale that would allow the custom shop to greatly reduce the price, like they did with the other two forum pickups. I believe we built well over 100 each of those.
Id also like to see a really toneful neck bucker come out...
