Show us all your basses then...

Re: Show us all your basses then...

All I still have are the all black P/J copy and the ash/blonde J.

Peavey T-20 (rock solid, lightweight ash, great pickup, WHY did I sell this?) and a Hofner 500/4 with mini humbuckers (sold that, too. I've never seen another one, online or in real life.)

My JB Player all maple neck-thru PJ with EMG's. Still have it, it sounds and plays SO GOOD I'm afraid to take it apart to "fix" it... and a "Conqueror" EB-2 copy that I think was made of cardboard...it weighed 4 pounds, neck-dove like a mofo and basically folded itself in half. I totally got ripped off from the crook selling it on Ebay, and got about $20 when I sold it. It sounded like wet rubber bands farting, too.

I miss my Hofner, I'll never find another one.

Ibanez Artcore ...something. I had it for a couple months, got laid off and it got sold along with the rest of my nice gear, for next to nothing. Grr.

My first bass, a "Global" (Sears catalog) Once it got a better bridge and tuners, it was awesome. A friend of mine actually borrowed it for recording, over his G&L that he usually played... Traded it for the Hofner.

My first "new" bass, Gretsch Electromatic G2220. I paid several hundred $ for it, and it ended up being plywood, and the neck bowed so bad it was unfixable (and GC wouldn't honor the warranty :headache: ) The pups and tuners ended up on the Hofner though.

i have a meager collection...

ibanez SR400...i just realized i don't have a good pic of her. hm...must rectify this the next nice day we have. although she has a rather unsightly hole in the body at a moment...she's getting a preamp installed in the near future.

What I win? lol!

Spending to much money, thats what the old lady would say! but thanks, I like all the basses I've seen on here

Re: Show us all your basses then...

Just picked up this little vintage 60s Jaguar-wannabe on Kijiji for 50$ !
Pots were dirty, but the neck was straight and the pickup sounds all right !
A good cleanup and some new flat wounds …. Tadaaa !
Daddy's happy !

Cheap instruments are pretty hit and miss. I have a Gretsch 2210 (on the right) and it's great. Solid, sounds good and plays well, good intonation. Only problem is if you pluck hard it's got a nasty snap to it. Someone recommended flatwounds to tame that, but I haven't had a chance to try it.

How is your Hofner and what model is it?
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Show us all your basses then...

I have a thing for a certain shape if you haven't figured it out.

BTW, the cyclone now has a red comp stripe.
Thinking of adding an old Jazz Bass pup cover (the big chrome ones, not sure about the name) on the VM Mustang just for fun.

Several others in various stages of completion/modding (I build my own basses as well.)

Fender 2011 MIA 60th Anniversary P, Washburn acoustic guitar, heavily modded Dillion SCPB (now modded with dual humbuckers, renamed the ThunderPea), and 2004 Ibanez BTB405QM. Got my basses covered.

That blue Thunder-P51 is a really classy.

Thanks. It was repainted from the original butterscotch, which I had grown tired of. Plus the stock pickup sounded terrible.

I repainted with Duplicolor Pacific Green Metallic (the same color as my neighbor's Camaro, followed by Duplicolor clear. Already showing some wear.

The pickups are Seymour Duncan SSB4's. I measured my old T-bird and routed the pickup cavities in the same spot they would be on a Thunderbird.

Hence, the name ThunderPea. I need to rewire it with stacked pots so I can add tone controls. Right now it's just 2 volumes and that's it.

Here's a better pic.

just picked it up yesterday.

i've also got a squier p-bass that i changed all the parts out on but will soon be selling, and the washburn p-bass in my avatar/profile pic.

Re: Show us all your basses then...

Just your run of the mill 5 string, but it sounds great and has gotten me through lots of projects. The stock pick-ups actually sound quite decent. Thinking about changing them eventually though.

Re: Show us all your basses then...

Yeah the jackson pickups/preamp are bad sounding, If you swap to active pickups you will probably have to change the preamp. I would swap in some EMG 45P/Js and a BQS preamp.

Bad as in good? Or just plain bad? If it's the latter, I've gotten some good tones with it, but it could probably use an upgrade.

Re: Show us all your basses then...

RIP my LP Triumph... *sigh*

I used to brag on the fact I had one, then I didn't anymore. Lesson learned.

Things (like cool basses) come and go. Invest in your chops, sharpen your skills, open your mind and heart to artistic expression.

Learn the song, play the song, do the song justice.
