Suggestions for a hypothetical shredder stick...

So let's hypothetically say I needed a shred stick. I may or may not be playing guitar in a pop/rock cover band that is covering 80's music and I may or may not need a floyd rose. If I wanted the best bang for my buck guitar with good functioning Floyd Rose vibrato and an H-S-H pickup configuration, what are my options? When I say bang for my buck, I'm fairly sure I cannot spend more than $500 on this guitar (hypothetically speaking of course). :cool2:

I'd be scouring for used jackson rhodes models, you can get them for pretty cheap sometimes

Since you asked for an H-S-H pickup configuration, Ibanez has/had/will have a lot of options. If $500 is your limit, that should score you a used RG 5-series, which are awesome guitars. (Diego, I know the S series are great, too.) Make sure you get an Edge or Edge Lo-Pro trem.

Hypothetically, for a shredstick, look no further than a used Ibanez RG. Hypothetically, for a shredstick, you don't need much more than a single humbucker and maybe a single coil in the neck, but that's just hypothetically.

^^ Yep.

If you don't like skinny Wizard necks, look for a 1986 Roadstar II type - medium Fenderish C shaped oil finished neck, Edge trem, variety of pu combos. All front routed models are routed HHH, so you can experiment with pu combos. They can be had in the $200-400 range, sometimes bit more for the rarer models like the 425.

There's a silver 450 on eBay right now.

+1 on the Ibanez RG or S. For that money you can get a nice '90s RG570 or RG550. Guitar center usually has used Prestige models for a little bit over $500.
