The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I bought a couple of delta-lab pedals last year and the delay was really nice. Delay time was a little short for my tastes but it had a good sound.

I ended up getting a Behringer Ultra G dedicated DI box instead of the GD 121 pedal (temporarily unavailable). Looks/feels nice & solid & works just great!

Most of the Mooer pedals I've tried have been really good. I ended up getting a Green Mile for about the equivalent of 80 dollars, which is a really nice (if slightly compressed sounding) TS808 clone. They also have one called the Ultradrive that sounds fantastic, and I've heard nothing but praise for their echos, delays and reverbs. I kind of want to check out their compressors too, apparently they have a pretty decent Boss CS2 clone.

I really like the Hustle Drive and Trellicopter. I've thought about getting the Green Mile and the AnaEcho as well.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

For me I have three that I thought were good. A Boss Super Overdrive that I paid $30.00 for. I still have it somewhere. A Bad Monkey that I bought used for $20.00 and an MXR Classic overdrive that I paid $39.00 for. The MXR I used for a while, then when I heard what it sounded like on tape I pulled it. It just sounded well bad! The Super Overdrive I used in conjunction with a Pro Co Rat through a solid state amp to get some decent tones. I got rid of the Rat, and the amp but kept the SOD. The Bad Monkey is surprisingly good for the $. I don't use it as I have a real TS9, but it does have a good voice. IMHO its better then the MXR classic overdrive...

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I found the bad monkey overly bassy/muddy... and I found the Boss SD-1 super overdrive honky and thin.

I wish those pedals worked for me so I did not have to spend so much money on my pedals now ! but I'm happy so I guess it was worth it but again the Garagetone series by Visual sound is a big WIN for cheap pedals... good sounds and great quality.. my Axle Grease analog/digital delay hybrid pedal has been on my board as a warm thick slapback for 3 years

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I got a Pyle Pro 6 band EQ from Amazon last year for $20
its housing is cheap but its a set and leave alone type of thing
for round the house anyways

if you plan on stomping on it or throwing it in a gig bag
you probably need a different one

and yes TLD, it is the "Pyle-O-Poo Pedal" as you called it

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Aria ADT-1 - $25 used - supposed to be a cheap fugly Japanese tubescreamer with moar gain on tap on the drive knob... Never A/B'd it with a proper TS yet, but it definitely pairs up nicely with a DS1 to together effortlessly dial in a huge range of 80s sounds on clean channels or into an SS bass amp.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I recently played the Mooer Blues Crab, supposedly a clone of the BBV1. I really liked it. I might have to pick one up soon.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

Small update, I ended up getting a Mooer Yellow Comp and their Ninety Orange phaser. The yellow comp is quite good, it's a pretty sparkly sounding compressor, though I generally use it as a bit of a signal boost. To me, a compressor is a live pedal not a home pedal, so I can't give a good review until I've brought it to a gig.

Their phaser is fantastic, I've always secretly been a fan of phaser effects and I love it. Though mind you, I usually just set it low (around 9:00 to 10:00) and use it for a bit of cut in solos or sometimes to get a bit of an effect on a big sustained chord. With the modern switch on and cranked all the way up it does a pretty convincing vibe/leslie thing, useful for threatening your keyboard player's position in the band.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I've had a Joyo American Sound pedal and after months of use I'm still running it with the same batteries. I also thought that after buying a Zoom G3 pedal that I wouldn't be using the Joyo much but I still do. I like the amp modelling better than the G3's.

Re: The "Cheap Pedal" Full of WIN! thread

I just got me a Mooer Blue Faze. Supposedly some sort of silicon Fuzz Face clone.

It's pretty damn cool. I don't know exactly what I bought it for,
Just knew I wanted a smooth fuzz pedal to make my Strat sound as big as possible. Tried a Gray Faze and the Triangle Muff; liked the Blue better, a bit smoother.
Economical and loads of tone. Love it!
