Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

before you decide a name, we'll need to see if it can be engraved. please take nothing for granted... peacemaker will not happen as i feel it to be disrespectful. my veto.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

If you don't feel for Peacemaker, then we should ditch it...

Hopefully it will be possible to get it engraved, but even if it won't happen it still needs a name. Don't you think? :)

How can "X" sound modern? It's a roman number, isn't it? Not exactly the most modern one, is it?

I'd rather have no names or such on the engraving, maybe the "X" could be okay. If there's to be a poll, I think that we should first ask if we want a name or not and only second what the name would be.

I'm wondering now, how many would be up for the tremspaced run? I think that I'll have to pass if it's only "standard" (!) spacing.

I don't really want a name on the front. I think a tag with a name on the baseplate to identifiy it is the way to do that.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

Johtosotku, wasn't it more than ten that voted from tremspaced? But of course that doesn't mean that over ten are ready to order though. But my guess there are quite some chances that there will orders on both.

Yeah, X is 10... Didn't think about it that way! I don't know, it just sounded kinda modern to me. ;)

I agree with Johtosotku. After Scott_F has found out wheter it's possible to get it engraved or not, we still need to make a poll about the engraving as well, in the same way as all the other specs.

But if it doesn't get engraved it still needs a name, maybe on the baseplate as Architect suggested.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was just about to go buy new pups tomorrow but now this thread makes me wonder if I should wait for one of these. I'm at a disadvantage though because I didn't read the original threads because of all the bickering so I don't really even know what to expect from this pup but if it's an exclusive special then I'm in!

Bickering? You were reading the wrong posts. The discussion of this offer has been more than fine

I mean the stuff going on a week or two ago with the topic being banned.

Yeah they are.

NO THEY ARE NOT...post 95/non Historic Gibson guitars use a slightly wider spacing that actrually falls between vintage ABR-1's and trem spacings...in those guitars a standard spaced pickup is still normal and what ALL major makers use...a trembucker can be used on those guitars but it's a tight fit and sometimes they won't even fit!

Well crap. I've gotta make sure which to get. I measured both pups last night from outer pole piece to outer pole piece and the bridge is wider than the neck. Also, Dimarzios site said the later models are trem-spaced so I assumed that's what I need. More digging to do...............

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

I'm late in reading this thread, but this does seem to be a cool pickup, and certainly something my Les Paul might like.

With a later tune-o-matic bridge you can use EITHER a standard or a tremspaced pickup but I can tell you from 1st hand experience...sometimes they are a bitch to make fit in the pickup route.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

BTW...Gibson did change the spacing in 1995 but they DID NOT change the spacing on the pickups...that shoudl tell you everything you need to know.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

Tremspaced pickups line up almost 100% on my Gibbys/Epiphones. Standard spacing is close, but not enough. This really brings out my OCD.

Here's a pic of my Les Paul Studio with an Invader with hex poles instead of the Button cap screws. The Invader is standard spaced and you can see the E and A string are way off center. This is corrected with Tremspaced bridge pickups.

If you can live with the poles being off centered then standard spacing won't be an issue, I can't!

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer POLL OPEN!

Thanks. The DiMarzio site says it's better to go wider than more narrow so if in doubt go trem spaced. I believe I'll go standard on the neck and trem on the bridge. I can always return it if it doesn't fit easily
