I mean for a standard in-stock pup! I should have clarified that.

I have a question for all thoose guys that are aware of ussing an standard spaced bridge pickup on Gibsons. Do you feel there is any volume drop on the 1st and 6th strings?

I have two guitars with standard bridge spacing and non-trem pickups and I never have any volumen drop issue.

I wonder if we are starting to be too picky about this pickup thing... ;)

Tremspaced buckers line up better with the newer bridge spacings IMHO, but it's purely cosmetical, there's no huge tone difference.

But the guy's right the actual bridge spacing falls right inbetween.

If you drop a $100 pickup into a $1000 or more guitar then I think it's ok to be picky ;)

That is obvious!

I've got two mid/early 70s Les Pauls so I would want standard spacing, right? That's what I'm getting from these recent threads.

I would think so. Std spacing is a much better fit in my 2000 LP than trem spacing is.

In his first records EVH was using a gibson spaced PAF in a Floyd equipped guitar!

B ;)

Actually the forst records weren't the floyd. They were still the vintage fender bridge. The Floyd bridge didn't appear until maybe Women and Children First around 1980 or so. Plus a lot of tracks were done with a Destroyer.

Thanks. I thought it was his stripes charvel with the floyd bridge and that rewound PAF.

Anyway could be wrong tho!

Peace.

even though it wasn't a Floyd it was a tremolo and the poles didn't line up quite right...notice the massive tilt on the pickup.

That came later. The original frankie was an old strat with the 61 Gibby pup in it.

Lol, I can't wait either!
For now I'm glad the Paypal account funding went ok. Never used it before and no-one here knew much about it. Had to figure it out all by myself. :blackeye:

Wow, could be awesome. Will this eventually become a new model in production? Sounds similar to the WCR Goodwood which is about 9.5k wound with 42 gauge wire and an Alnico V magnet and the best pickup I have ever heard, bar none. This might be similar but at a great price.

I wonder if balanced winding would give it a fatter tone? What about wax potting? Some winders do a light potting to give the pickups a more elastci/airier tone and some use special potting techniques.

Normal Spacing
Zebra/Nickel Cover (by one fraking vote)
42 gauge
4 Wire
9-10K
Short Legs
With Logo
wax potted completely
unbalanced, scatterwound
Dunaged A5 Mag
