Tried out the Marshall JVM the other night.

I must say it is much better than i was expecting. It struck me as beeing a smoother, more articulate 4-channel version of a TSL. Wasn't as loud as I'd expected, but it still needs to be brought up to 5-6 to sound good, but don't all Marshalls? Very nice, I'm mildly impressed. Too bad it got the Marshall GAS going again. :argh:

I'd really love to take my Legacy cab loaded with V30's in the Loud Lounge and crank that bastich UP! :rocket:

I know someone on here bought the combo version a while back... anyone else own/tried one?

Never tried one, but what separates it from the DSL/TSL's? The JCM2000's? What's the big difference? I know it's quite a bit pricier.

I wondered what the JVM was like, but have had little faith that Marshall will recapture the magic that made them THE sound of rock so long ago. Let's face it, if you want a JCM800 brown sound and you want it to have the white Marshall logo on the face, then the JCM800/900 is the way to go. The DSL and TSL just don't cut it for me (or most others evidently).

Yeah, i love the JVM, but after getting the VM eq'd all right, i have to say i like the VM a little better. Completely contradicting my old post where i flamed the VM and loved the JVM, the JVM looks complicated but its not hard at all to get great sounds out of it. Where as the VM is a touchy amp, not unlike a woman, you have to touch the knobs just right or it bitches you out.. I got some killer "Tommy" sounds playing with a P90 hollowbody. I just need the 2000 dollars to get it and the Cab.

I just picked up a used JVM and am really liking it so far. It's very versatile which is nice for me since I"m in a cover band. But you really could gig on one channel all night with a decent OD pedal. I'll be gigging it 3 times over the next month so I'll get a better handle on it than just playing it in the basement! No pedals needed with this thing.

All I know is, since i use me JCM2000 with 1960a I have no need for Distortion or Od pedal (only I use a Super OD for soloing) to get the sound that Iwas looking for ( is a very versatile one after you do some set ups with channels and mids scoops option) IMO
