I've got your modern set:

Neck:
1. Screw coil: 4-4.5K* AWG #42 PE wire (78 coil?)
2. Screw coil: 5-6K* AWG #43 PE wire (Demon coil?)
*Tweak winds to best hum canceling balance
Short-legged baseplate, 4-conductor, A4 or A5 magnet, FS style hex screws, potted

Bridge p'up:
1. TB Screw coil: ~11.5K AWG #44 PE wire
2. TB Screw coil: ~11K AWG #44 PE wire
Short-legged baseplate, 4-conductor, large ceramic magnet, FS style hex screws (will need longer ones), potted

No logos for the crowd that wants to use the neck as a bridge pickup.

A few things here. I don't ever recall Evan offering up a Bridge and Neck set for humbuckers. The only time a set has been offered was for the Stratabro90 single coil. In the past when it's been a forum humbucker, it's typically been the bridge only. I'm not saying they won't do a matched set, but don't expect it. That's a lot of work on their end.

Some people are getting way ahead of themselves. Just go with the flow. You guys are that are completely specifying out pickups down to the wire for your ideal pickups are just setting yourselves up for disappointment in the long run. Also, when it comes down to wire types and uneven winds on the bobbins, I think it's best to tell Maricela what we're looking at sound wise, and let her decide on wire type and the output of the bobbins. I'm trying to discredit anyone's knowledge on here. There some that are quite knowledgeable on the topic. However, a lot of people aren't, and don't understand what is typical of what wire.

Just throwing ideas out there, I highly doubt mine get any play anyway, so I'm not gonna be let down when the vintage class uberbucker wins. I'll just get one and use it as a neck pickup.

It would be interesting to have a humbucker with bar magnets, but have different magnets for each coil. So that the screw side could be A2 and the slug could be A5 (or whatever).
Once we each had the pickup, we could swap out how ever we wanted.

My vote would be for a 15K UOA5 Custom, lightly potted. The hottest vintage sounding A5 humbucker possible, that still sounds fat and tight.

If they could do that in the blade style like the Iommi/Diablo, I'd be all over that like I6 would be to the first nude showing of John Mayer.

I'm a bit late in the game here. I voted humbucker, obviously. Here are my two ideas:

1. S-Deco bulk discount (I'd get 12K A5)
2. High-output A4 bridge pickup

I think this is directed to me, as I've been the first in this thread to talk about actual spec'ing down to the materials.

I don't get this attitude of yours here, getting all protective, talking about what YOU think is best, like you've got some kind of permission to speak in behalf of the Seymour Duncan Co, which I'm quite sure you haven't.

I only have a question for you: what part of "Let's DREAM a little" you did not understand?

Brush up you reading skills first, then refrain from telling other people what they can or can't say or what they know or don't known about p'up winding, making and/or designing.

If you have no idea about the subject, and you were unable to understand the meaning of what I was saying, don't assume everybody else, and I mean the hundred of thousands of actual posters in this Forum and the virtually millions of lurkers out there, are just as unable as you are. I find this insulting the intelligence of a massive amount of people, people you don't even know.

Last but not least: read the title of this thread: "User Group Pickup SPECS".

I was doing JUST THAT. Sorry if your definition of "specs" is different than mine.

I'd like to see something along the lines of a potted, slightly over-wound Seth--similar to the 50th Anniversary A2 Seths. I wish I'd bought 10 sets of those.

I haven't read the entire thread, i got about 3 pages in and it's all the usual stuff.

I think SD should expand the B2R range to include the 59/Jazz neck hybrid and the Custom/JB bridge hybrid, and that this thread should be concentrating on single coils or the more whacky and unusual pickup types that could be adapted to fit in a humbucker-sized hole.

If people need even more variations in the already large humbucker range, it could be time to look at altering the basic construction of the electric guitar instead.

I realize that this poll was only on the type of the pickup but I don't see anything wrong with posting about specs and dreaming a bit. Its good to have some ideas put out before the spec polls to get everyone thinking and this thread seemed to be a logical place for such a discussion.
