Warmer toned speakers?

Re: Warmer toned speakers?

What amp are you running into it?

65 Amps Memphis (4x6V6, EF86 in the preamp), or a Fender Bandmaster. I have the G12H30 in another cab and find the CRex to have a warmer top end.

Here's a track using the CRex. Telecaster -> Fulldrive 2 -> Bandmaster -> CRex

I should have explained that better. It's not that the Swamp Thang has taken away the sparkle of the amp, it's just that the bass over powers everything and kind of drowns it out. Plus it has almost no mids to it at all. So basically I'm looking for a Swamp Thang w/ less bass and more mids. After doing a bit more research I think the Cannabis Rex might be more a long the lines of what I want or I may have to end up mixing some speakers to get it where I want it.

Cannabis would be awesome with a blue angel, but its pretty efficient and it has quite a big low (if it was a pickup, its eq curve would be something like a duncan 59) , so while i would recommend it in most cases its not the kind of speaker you were describing you are after in your initial thread.
Seeing as i mentioned pickup eq's, here is how i hear the other eminences and their ew curves:
Swampy=custom
texas=custom custom

I know it's late but what about the Eminence Governor? I would recommend the Celestion Alnico Gold but I think thats out your price range or try the GH-65 from Celsetion

I love love love my Texas Heat. That in my Bandmaster 2x12 cab with a Cannabix Rex is absolutely the best cab I've ever used.

Oh, no, no, no. Governor is tight and bright. Well, not really bright, but not warm.

Re: Warmer toned speakers?

G1265 or its Emi copy the Tonespotter. The 65 is hands down my favorite speaker. Works well with Fenders, Marshall, and my Dual Rec. My only gripe is that i wish it were louder.

Re: Warmer toned speakers?

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread fella's. The Cannabis Rex seems to be working just great. It's getting sweeter as it breaks in to.

Re: Warmer toned speakers?

How about the Governor? It's like the Wizard minus the piercing top end. Or the Reignmaker since it gives you the ability to control the response and volume.

Re: Warmer toned speakers?

I really like Vintage 30s... I have not had a bad experience with them yet. I tried 2 Cannabis rexes in my Fender tonemaster 2x12 cab when I was using head and cabs and I thought they sounded very stiff and harsh but that could have just been the fact they weren't broken in after a few gigs though I decided to sell the head and cab and get back into combos. I don't feel a need to have stacks to get dirty and loud now I'm a believer in 4x10 combos and 1x15/1x12 combos even
