Pristine Clean: My gear stays in glass cases on my wall and are never/rarely played.

Touring Perfectionist: My gear stays in shockmounted racks/roadcases at all times when not in use and are in 100% new condition, only I or my techs can touch this gear.

Careful enough: My gear is usually kept clean and no beer near it. It mostly travels in cases and only me and my good buddies can touch it.

Roadwarrior: My gear goes on the road and looks like it. Gets a clean before shows. I dislike dents but im not too worried.

Hardcore Roadwarrior: Groupies can mess with my guitars if they want. Nicks are battlescars and everything tells a story.

I voted "careful enough" before I noticed that that meant "no beer near it". I may occasionaly have a beer nearby, but since spilling a beer is as a great a crime as scratching equipment, it hasn't been a problem yet. :laugh2:

mine stays pretty nice. i keep them in cases, but they show some wear and all have their dents and scratches.

I like to keep mine out on the stands, so I can see them. I hate to think of them locked away in cases. I clean them regularly as well since they're out. Since I play at home mostly, they stay in very good shape. Most of my dings and nicks come from changing pickups and hardware (screwdriver slips, tailpiece falling off, ect).

So I voted careful enough, but most stuff stays much nicer than that.

Careful enough.

I avoid damage where I can (e.g., gig bags for my amps) but don't obsess over dings and scratches.

It all depends each guitar has it's story.

My Bass is my Hardcore Roadwarrior - I've hand painted it, messed with it, dented it, thrown it. I couldn't care less if it falls over ... it's pretty much indestructable. The irony is that I'd be pretty sad if it ever breaks. But it's a tool

Jackson Kelly - Hardcore Roadwarrior I've dropped tools on this thing unfortunatly ... it was a POS when bought though so I really don't care. Once I get a jig out of it I'll turn it into a baritone

Yamaha RGX - Roadwarrior: A decent bit of wear considering it's only 2 years old. It's been my main guitar since I got it. Strudy so I leave it anywear and rest it where ever

Dean EVO 7 string - Careful enough: I try and keep it in as good a condition as I can. After the last fret dress it's emerged as my No.1 again after a fret dress gone wrong. In about another 2 years I'm guessing it'll be up for it's first refret. It's got it's share f scratches, but I try and keep it in as good a condition as I can.

I really don't care if friends or friends of friends play my guitars, although I do get skittish when people want to play the Dean ... I leave that to my lefty drummer (what damage can he do LOL)

I pretty much leave everything out in the open for everybody to see. People in my family generally know to leave the guitar stuff alone so I don't have to really worry about them (so, no cases or anything like that). I also don't tour or do shows so I pretty much keep the guitars/pedals out if I feel inspired.

I guess I'm a hardcore roadwarrior according to the descriptions- I don't clean my sh!t except for very occasionally- I have a PRS Custom 22 thats a year old and feel bad, but they're all tools. I don't beat them (much), but they take the occasional ding, especially when beer is involved. Gigs and teaching are tough on equipment. Teaching in a small room makes guitars very prone to bumps and nicks.

Touring Perfectionist. the only dings that my gear has is from previous owners if used. If new, it stays looking new for a long, long time. :burnout:

Careful enough sans the beer. Like Artie, I consider spilling a beer to be a sacrilege, so the chances of one falling on an axe are quite low ;)

Roadwarrior for me. It was almost Careful Enough but I don't obsess about beer. I mean of course I avoid spilling beer on or near my guitars, but a drop here or there is no problem. I just wiped some dried beer off the headstock of my most recent acquisition that I took to a gig the very day I bought it. Oh, and I don't clean my guitars very often - only when the grime looks real nasty.

But I never put beer on my amp because:
1. the amp gets pretty hot and I hate warm beer :D
2. I usually tilt the amp so obviously nothing can stay on top of it
3. and of course I'm afraid of spilling anything inside my tube amp

I broke this rule in December and it was a lesson learned the hard way. I put a glass of beer on top of a loaned bass combo. Soon enough I knocked it down and spilled the beer right into the amp through the top grille. The amp died immediately. But when it dried, our drummer replaced a fuse and voila - the amp worked again. Needless to say, much to my relief.

My stuff gets used, some of it I take good care of because it is not made anymore, the rest I use, my Wolfie is 2 years old and has some wear, my old Kramer only has the dings the previous owner gave it, I'm taking care of that one, my Tokai is a seriously beatup guitar.
My amps on the other hand gets very good treatment, same for my effects.

I voted before reading the instructions/descriptions......

I voted pristine clean but in actuality, it should be clean enough. I try not to ding things up, but sh!t happens.. My Guild acoustic & anniversary Tele go back to their cases when I'm done with them, but the others either hang on the wall or sit in gig bags on a stand.

Amps hang out in the corner/on the wall......the kids know to avoid this area like the plague!!!!!! :evil:

I'm "careful enough". I keep my guitars on wall hangers at home, move them in cases, and have them on a multi-stand when they're out. I also don't mind others playing them, as long as I'm there. That's really my only rule haha, "don't touch 'em if I'm not here".

I voted Pristine Clean, but that was a bit stupid, because now that I think about it - I don't really care if it gets knocked and banged as long as it ain't broken.

What I'm very particular about is the shinyness of the finish. If its got scratches, dings, whatever, fine, as long as the rest is glossy :laugh2:

My PRS is not too old and the headstock is already getting all dinged up. But I don't really care...I bought the thing to play it...not sit in a glass case. I'm a pretty good player but not a great player so I need all the help I can get. :32:

Speaking of beer and tube amps...I somehow managed to spill over half a bottle into my Carvin (right where the tubes go) a while back. I was using my Pro Reverb that night so luckly the Carvin wasen't on at the time. :smack:

Hardcore Roadwarrior. Although I usually dont let people play my guitars, cause if I ding, dent, or scratch it, I can get pissed at myself, but I dont like getting pissed at other folks you know? I really dont care if my gear falls, gets scratched up, dented, all that. It can have grime and rust everywhere, as long as it plays and sounds good, I'm a happy camper. Oh, and I HATE dirty strings, so those are probably the only clean things on any of my guitars.

I'd say touring perfectionist. Only me and maybe 1 other person are allowed to touch anything, the amps are in cases or tuki covers, guitars are never leaned against anything and I keep them clean. Nothing gets set on my amps except allen wrenches, mini screwdrivers, and picks.

I use all my stuff, but handle it with extreme care. The items that I rarely use and never leave the house with are considered collectibles, and even one marr would devalue them greatly.

I'm like Nigel from Spinal Tap......"Doun't touch it. Doun't even even loouk at it." LOL

I voted Roadwarrior. I keep the guitars in Gig bags and cases when I go to shows, but pretty much anybody can play 'em, and little ding doesn't hurt anybody. I also keep covers on my amps, but My Fender HRD is brand new, so that I care more about that the guitars 'n stuff.
