DR Tite-Fit 12-52 for standard tuning, custom guage DR sets for going lower (fiddling around with guages again )

Guitars: Ernie Ball's Regular Slinkys (10-46), Hybrid Slinkys (9-46), PRS 9's - 42. I sometimes try out D'Addario. Bulk buy as I tend to go through on average anything between 30-40 sets each year.

Basses: Rotosounds and DRs - buy only a few sets a year but only for back up.

Eliixir's - useless had 10 sets given to me not so long ago and gave them away

Currently using DR Pure Blues 11-50 for electric and Elixir 11-52 for acoustic. Thinking of trying DR 12s on my Strat in Open-G.

E to E I use Ernie Ball Regular Slinky in stainless steel, for the seventh string I use a D'addario stainless steel 55 bass string. I'd use 56 if I could.

I use D'addario Xl 115's on my strats. 11 thru 49. I will eventually change over on all my other electrics as well. I have more on order.
I use D'addario J17 (13 thru 56) on all my acoustics.
In both cases I NEVER break strings and for me they sound good and last a long time.

GHS super steels (1st choice), or boomers (2nd choice) .008~.038, have used GHS Nickel Rockers, Sub Zeros, Enrie Ball's, D'Addarios (and Blue Steels), DR's Tite Fits, and Zebras ... just for kicks on the last one. All standard tuning (A-440).

Horrible low end GHS strings that I bought for $2 a pack.

I really want to try the Elixir Nanowebs.

String gauge, I like 9s for standard (easier to solo) and 10s for my alternate tunings.

Peavey EVH 0.9-42 nickelstrings for my...er Wolfgang...like the reinforced d-string and the sound of these buggers.
For my strat it is either 0.10-46 or 0.9-42.
Depending on what I play.

Used to use DR Pure Blues .011's. I had a problem with some of the ball end of the strings unraveling while on the guitar (it's like the string breaks, but it really didn't break).

After this happened about 5 or 6 times I gave up on the DR's. Shame because I like the way they sound.

Went back to D'adarrio's. They are totally fine. No problems.

After a while I decided to wimp out and I went back to .010's (I do a lot of single note soloing - jamming - lots of two string Nashville bends & stuff like that). They are a bit easier to play, but I like the sound of .011's better.

Every day I feel guilty and promise myself I will go back to .011's. :smoker:
