Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I love my Orange AD30 for clean and crunch and my Marshall JCM800 for the mid-high gain stuff.

It's all I need :D

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

Mesa Boogie - the rectifier and nomad series are the best imo (without having to sell you grandma to buy one as the boutique diezel and/or bogner).

A lot of people suits them in the nu metal stuff....that is just unfair. it´s used by many blues and "Solo" players (andy timmons p.e.) that don´t want only pure-fu**ing-armagedon gain/distortion, but tone....and holy sh*t, the tone of this babies is absolutely awesome.
i have tried marshall, peavey, diezel, bogner, randall, engl, rivera and mesa, and honestly the only ones that can beat a mesa are a couple diezel models and the bogner uberschall (not sure of the spelling...bah, who cares) but as bogner or diezel heads go to over 4.000 $ the dual rectifier goes to 2.000 $....did i say i voted mesa, aren´t i? :D

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I voted for Marshall, but I'm going get an ADA MP-1 and run that into my the power amp of my Marshall.

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I use Bogner and Soldano.

I also love a couple of Fender Tweeds. Namely, a 1959 Tweed Deluxe I used during a session at Sun Studio a couple of times, and a '59 Bassman I played at Tommy B's maybe 6 months ago. They had the mojo BIG TIME!!!!

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

Voted for Marshall, I own a TSL100 half stack and a small MG practice amp and all i can say is that Marshall satisfies me completely

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I voted for Line 6 because I love my Flextone III Plus. I would own a Vetta II but they're a bit unreliable....

I still have a place in my heart for the Roland JC-120 and the Roland BC-310...

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I like Mesa for their innovativity. Think Progressive Linkage, SimulClass, 3 tube gain stages, channel switching, channel-assignable FX-loops and reverb and so on. Not all of those are really considered revolutions, but I guess the most decisive of those would have to be the 3 gain stages. It's what defined their brand, when Randall Smith boogied up a Fender Princeton to 100 watt and 3 gain stages and Carlos Santana walked in right when they were giving it a testrun. From there on, I'm sure everyone here knows the story :)
Oh, and off course I like the tone of many a great Mesa.

I voted 'Other' though. My vote goes to Hughes & Kettner, primarily for their Triamp, their ultimate creation, a 3-preamp, 6-channel, MIDI-compatible 100 watt monster. Of the 6 channels, 5 sound good (of which 3 are incredible in my opinion). The 6th is nice too, but it's hard to make anything of it because of the shared EQ and master volume with the adjacent channel of preamp 2. Channel 2A is a very bright Marshall 1959-like tone, 2B is like a cross between a 1959 with interconnected channels and the drive channel of an old Fender (boomy, deep and slightly fuzzy). That doesn't mix well on one shared EQ!
I haven't heard the Triamp Mk 2 though, so I don't know whether they've fixed that by now. Mine is of the first generation (actually, from the first year of production).

Edit: only now do I realize how OLD this thread is! :haha:

Fender . . . there's just something about that logo that looks "right" on an amp.

Thats funny... I fell the same way about MARSHALL. It just looks "right" on an amp. Or a wall of 8 foot cabs...

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I have a Line 6 POD Pro going into a 482 BBE into a Carvin 100 watt stereo tube power amp. I love being able to get 36 different amp types out of one unit. I also love the fact that I can use my analog pedals with this setup also.

Dunno that I have one favorite. My Rivera edges out my Soldano as my #1 but Bogners seem mighty nice, too. Since none of those is on the list, I could honestly vote "Other". :)
Upon further consideration, I'd vote "None".

I can't think of a manufacturer who has more than one model that builds something that isn't my bag. Even among the brands that I really like, there are models that I would not spend my hard-earned cash on.

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

I've been using Crate Amps since 2000, a rack preamp, a 2x12 combo, 15 watter, VC5, a cab, and currently an MX65R.

I've never really looked anywhere else ampwise 'cause I'm too busy makin' music.

Also, once I became more aware of thier stance on how amps should be made- get out in the field and see what players really want from thier amp and constant evolution of their products- I wanted to be a part.

The ease of me makin' my music ampwise is a load off my mind.

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

OK there is a few i know there, i still haven´t voted yet but since the question is what´s your favorite amp brand? do you mean which ones i already own and played lots of time or the one i like to own?

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

Hiwatt---big, clean, musical.
Fender tweeds and browns---no BF cowboy amps, thank you very much.
Traynor, pre 72---unbelievable build quality and components for the money.

'Pedals?'...'we dont need no stinkin pedals'...

Re: What's your favorite guitar amp brand?

VHT blows away my Boogie and Marshall. Don't get me wrong my Triple Rectifier kicks ass and my TSL100 gets that one and only Marshall tone but the VHT is simply in a league of its own. Boogies are known for mind blowing gain and chunk but the VHT takes gain to another level but maintains clarity and definition much better then a Boogie.

I would like an opprotunity to demo a Soldano SLO and a Bogner Ubershall. I know of no one that owns these two amp or any stores that carry them. Although the Ubershalls sound cool on the MP3 clips off the Bogner website.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Peavey...The Classic 50, XXX, 5150, and the new JSX are all amazing amps.

I like the Classic 50 best, it's not fancy, but it sounds great and is one hell of a good value on the used market. Not to mention Peavey's customer service, which is by far the best in the industry.

Ding ding ding!

I don't think I could find a better amp to match with my Ric. (classic 50)
