Which guitar would you choose?

Hey everybody.

I will be graduating from college soon (yay!! :) ) and, since I won't have to pay tuition anymore, I figure I can get myself a brand new axe. which would you choose?

Keep in mind, I already have a LP Standard and a Hamer Special (flat top studio).

I'm looking for something with a mahogany body and set neck, with dual pickups. I'm not averse PRS, Heritage, Hamer, or Gibson (maybe a R9? ). Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe you should look at a guitar with a different pup config. than you already have? Both the Gibson (provided you don't get a lemon) and Hamer are great guitars and both dual humbucker, so you may want something with single coils, p90s, Filtertrons, mini buckers or something to give you different types of tones.

I can tell you that if you order from the right dealer, you're going to get one hell of an amazing Gibson. I think well made Gibsons will rival anything out there, no matter how boutique it is. Bear in mind, taking that extra step in price range WILL spoil you. I don't enjoy playing low end guitars after the way I feel when I plug into something really exceptional.

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

hmmm, brian moore makes some fine guitars ...

+1 on considering trying something different (woods / pup configuration / construction / etc) from what you already have

congrats on graduation and good luck in the job market ... it is SUCH a nice feeling to finally be done school, trust me ... it's even sweeter than you are imagining it to be :D

cheers

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

I'd probably get the best strat that my folks would pay for. I'm gonna try to talk my grandparents (who are llloooooooaaaaaaddddeeeedddd) into a custom shop strat. Probably just a time machine relic.

"just" a custom shop relic he says :laugh2:

no offense by the way...

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

by "just" I meant nothing incredibly special, like you see some professional artists with. The only reason I'd go custom shop is because it's the only strat I can get in nitro with a little added wear with a beefy neck. I know alot of folks dont like relics, but I see 'em more like pre-faded jeans (not extreamly faded), soon, your own wear mixes in with the "stock" wear and you cant tell where one started and the other one ended.

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

My first thought when I read this was "why is he getting the same guitar?" I agree with what everyone else has said and go for something a little different (wood, pickups). Maybe a strat or tele or at least something with p-90s.

Can you get any guitar you want?

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

or an something else...
start a project, a Les Paul with single coils or mini buckers but add a middle pup...
heh?

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

I'd lean towards a Hamer . . .but the PRS guitars are all very good (just usually more money for the same quality as a Hamer) Try one of the Hamers with P90s . . . I think they ship with Duncans. Or a Musicman guitar . . . if that's your thing.

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. The thing is, I already have 2 strats, 2 tele's, and 2 Carvins (shredder axe, anyone?), besides, 2 pickups and a set neck just feel more natural to me. :)

Thanks T4D, I still don't know what kind of job I'll be getting. ;)

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

ok... how about ..

chambered mahagony strat with a SS setup. JBJr bridge (slanted) and '59 neck (also slanted) with an all maple neck

Re: Which guitar would you choose?

yah, if you want something really different from what you have, get a hollowbody.
