White Stickers on back of SD PU'S

Hello,

Just tonight my bass player gives me a small bag with a set of 3 SD pickups. I cannot decipher the sticker code.

They are a set of 3 from a strat style guitar, all single coil humbucker style.

The 1st and 3rd pickup are black plastic with the SD logo on them, the middle is black plastic with the silver bar showing ( I am assuming this a SD pu).

They have white stickers on the back and are labelled as such;

#1 2B-S I'm guessing this is the bridge pu
#2 2N-M the one with the silver bar
#3 2n-S I'm guessing a neck pu

I could not find a chart somewhere, I am assuming they are older types.

This would be good news for me because I have 2 strat style guitars with Lil 59's in the bridge position and no other pickups in them. At least one of the guitars I can get back to a 3 pu design.

Thanks for any info.

Welcome to the forum.... See if this helps:

The "Silver bar" one is an older Hot Stack almost for sure.

Mega thanks for that label list - I did'nt find it on the Duncan site the first go round.

I checked that list and found nothing;. Hmmmmmmm I found a 1B but not a 2B and did not find a 2N.

Oh well will keep looking.

Thanks

Just noticed that myself.... those would theoretically be Gibson size Minihums, of course not what you have...

THey COULD be SSL-2s, one neck and one Bridge... But I´m not sure the SSL-2 came in separate Neck/bridge versions... I don´t think so....

Whoah, hello again.

This is strange. I took the plastic cover off of the 2N-S and there is a white plastic bit with the winding and the silver bar magnet in the middle. On the white plastic part is the SD logo.

I'm pretty sure this a set also, it is all tie wrapped and looks in the right order.

Thanks

Interesting... can you post pics by any chance?

I think I can, I have an older semi-so-so digital (a gateway 2.1 mp cheesy poof camera) It does not do close ups very good, I'll break it out and see what kind of pics I can get.

Actually I did not know I could send pics to the forum (I'll have to figure that bit out also) - So 1st I'll see if I can get pics then see if I can get em up.

Thanks

YOu can upload them as an attachment, or what´s usually "cleaner" is grabbing an account for free @ www.photobucket.com and using them for hosting ;)

I'll give this a shot. These pics are the best my krummy camera will do. On big stuff about 6' away I can get good pics, but forget small stuff.

Anyways This is a bottom view with the stickers, although not very legible.

And a top view with the cover off of the neck pu.

Hmmm... I´m pretty sure the only ones w/ long poles like that are (older) hot stacks.... Interesting.....

I'll have to search a bit for those, maybe I can find a better picture of em, I'm wonderin if they were made for another company's guitar and still had SD logos on em.

Whew...... had to many ales . . . . must sack out . . . .

Thanks for the replys.

I have similar pickup like this, and it's an old hot stack. Try removing the cover, if you see Duncan logo on the bobbin, at least my it's 50% correct :D

Yep there was a Duncan logo on the bobbin. I put em in my guitar anyway and they do sound pretty good. Not as hot as the Lil 59 I had - but I only had the 1 pu in the guitar. I like the 3 better.

Sometimes the Lil59 would be to hot and a bit to bassy - the 3 hotstacks seem to cover more range of music.
