Alex Lifeson, you may have heard of him, recorded most of the first three or four Rush albums using ES-335s and ES-355s.

Most of my ES GAS is from Alex :laugh2:

Mine too... Steve Howe played ES-335's, ES-345's, Switchmasters, & ES-175's and Larry Carlton, while being known mainly for being a Jazzer can really rock out with his ES-335....

As of tonight...me!

A couple of weeks ago Fed Ex delivered a letter from Guitar Player magazine informing me that I had won third prize in one of their recent giveaways.

It arrived yesterday: a blond Michael Kelly "Deuce". It's an ES-335 clone, made in China. It has a few minor issues, like a grounding buzz, microphonic pickups and it's in need of a good setup, but it basically plays well and sounds good.

What could be in its future? 59's? Seths?

I tried my ric the other day with a descent amount of gain and the amp full on.

Took a little monkeying around to figure out how to avoid feedback but even hum wasn't excessive. Pretty amazing tone for 10k A2 singles. Massive sounding pure crunch, leads were very sweet and fluid. All in all, I'm still trying to find something I can't pull off with this guitar. (Bridge leads sound almost like slash's neck leads :P.)

So, add another hollowbody rocker to the list!

Excellent! Congratulations.

I would go for pups with strong midrange response. A2Ps, maybe? Definitely stay low- or mid-output.

Rik Emmett used Framus hollowbodies for a time. Still plays hollows on occasion. I really like my ES135, which is now more like a 137 because I took off the trapeze and put in a stop.

Duane Denison (currently of Tomahawk) plays a 335 among other things. He rocks pretty hard.

95% of people who will hear and see you will have no idea what guitar you are playing anyway. Who cares? It's only geeks like us that really care about that stuff.

geeks with magnets in our pockets and pickup wires in our ears:smack:

Hollow & semi-hollow . . .

. . . the great Reverend Horton Heat, Mr. Setzer and almost all the Rockabilly & Psychobilly bands worth mentionning !

The Gore Gore Girls (all Gretsch)

The Foo Fighters (Gibbo ES 335's)

George Thorogood (Gibbo ES 125)

Cheers

Definately! I actually know the guy who owns this exact guitar now, won it in a contest a few years ago, and you can tell he rocked hard on it!

That's awesome! I love that album, Izzy is very underrated (I think he was a big part of why Guns N' Roses was as good as they were). I actually bought that album for $.99 a while back at a record store brand new (it was in a discount bin with a ton of extemely odd artists), nobody in the store knew who the heck Izzy Stradlin was and were looking at me funny when I was excited to pick up the album :smack:

If I ever get finances straightened out, I'm really tempted to get a cherry Hamer Monaco with a Bigsby and humbuckers :32:

Mike Einziger from INCUBUS uses mostly PRS guitars (with Duncans :) ), majority of them hollowbodies

Re: Who rocks hard with a semi-hollow? You? Famous Rock Stars?

Paul Gilbert!!! You even got metal shreders playing hollow bodies...
Bands like Jet and The Strokes use semi hollows...
