Was the reissue good? I wondered and I sure wanted one. But, didnt have the funds and since I wasnt sure of how good it would be, I was not bending over backwards to scrape up the funds..
Bro, I hope you LOVE the thing and that its all you could hope for!! Gibson can still make some amazing guitars. I think the feeling ( I know mine is) that for what they charge, every one should be amazing! I have a LP Trad Pro that even tho it wasnt the color I wanted, from the moment I played it, I couldnt get it out of my mind.. ( I wanted black, this one was wine red) I played a bunch of black ones, and none of them had the mojo of the red one.. I ended up getting the red one..
The most expensive guitar I ever bought was a Gibson "2008" model. I ordered it, paid a very hefty sum for it. They came back and said they wouldnt make it for me as they were no longer in production. Although still on the website and in the dealers system and all. They tried to get me to take a regular new standard. the Dealer fought for me. I got the guitar.. (Was well over $3k) and it was crap. Binding flaws, crappy top and other issues. Was sent back.. Got another one after delays. Supposedly mine was the very last "2008" Model made. The new one was visually fine. Although the figuring in the top was more bland than the first one.. But the guitar had NO
mojo at all. So, I sold it at quite a loss.
I also agree with what someone said.. Seems their whole thing these days is collectable... Most of the ads even say something like a must have for the collector. And they are pricing them as collectible museum pieces.. They need to just focus on making awesome playing /sounding guitars.
