WITH FULL DISTORTION

F. Hails Railsologist
Hails Guys, i was playing the 5150 TODAY(a few minutes ago).. and a strange thing Happened...
my ritual to play the 5150 is as follow :
let them power on for 7 minutes, let the standby on for 7 minutes, and let them that way for 30 minutes.
and then ..i start to play.
but, today, i spent more than 1 hour playing. i spent 1:30 playing, maybe 1:50... and, Around 1:00, i feel the sound too much Bright, and compressed, is it that way? can be a tube problem? speaker problem!?
i was playing with the pre gain on 5, bass on 5, middles on 4, highs on 4,5.
ressonance on 4,5 and presence on 5/6.
i was testing it with the C, D, tuning guitars.
what do yo uthink of this?!

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Well, the sound was.. Energized.. nervous.
saturated.. i can´t describe
i´ll shoot a video of it TOMORROW.

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Not sure if you use a wah pedal. But if you do, check to make sure you didn't inadvertently leave it in a fully cocked position. If that doesn't apply, it could be a weak or fried tube.

Others will be more informative though, I'm sure. Good luck!

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Thank´s Man
how can i check if it´s a defective tube !? see if it´s lightning or not!?
i´ll open the pre amp section so see the tubes there.

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

i also turn on the fan, making wind in the right direction of the front of the amp head.
i believe it can help the amp to not get ****ed up by the heat or something like that?
am i doing something wrong with this !?

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Your description of the sound is still a little vague, so a video might help in figuring out what tubes (if any) are defective.

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

No, like the video you mentioned in your 2nd post. (to hear the sound)

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

He doesn't mean in that video; he's telling you to shoot a new one demonstrating the change.

You're waiting way too long on standby and crap before playing. I generally turn the power on, wait 30 seconds-1 minute to turn the standby on, and start playing immediately.

You don't need the fan. I think you're being a little too cautious with it, but I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ****, sorry. my lazyness
ahahahahahaha
Yah, i´ll do that. gonna play 2 hours. and will NOT Mess with the tone
i´ll leave it in a unique setting the whole playing.
let´s see.

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Yah yah yah, Thank´s DSS!
So, my question is.. if i attend to play in a gig, and started to play a set of 2 hours.. and after 1:30 the amp becomes that way..
let me see.. should i need to wait the tubes heat gone to play again? i don´t think so, well.. let´s see TOMORROW.
i can´t play anymore right now because of the TIME, it´s late and my mom´s already sleeping.

Just let the tubes heat up for like a minute on power on, standby off. Then turn the standby on and start playing. that's it.

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

i dont hate my mesa , its sounds good! im just not satisfied! maybe i need something like a bogner! btw deadskin what do you think of manntis?

Re: Help : Ultra Bright 5150 tone...!?!?!

guys, i´m taking all that cautions because.. when i did my audio classes and recording classes, my teacher said that a right ammoung of time to let the tubes warm up are, like 1 hour... , and a minimum of 30 minutes.
thats the reason i let the tubes "heating " for 30 minutes.
what do you have to say about that?
