God, for $6 big ones you can make yourself your own CUSTOM GUITAR!!! it'd be completely unique, totally for you , and less than the price of a honda civic

how do u kno in 3 years you'll even give half a dam about this fiddle? when i was in high school i played heavy metal, and a few years later, look at my user name and avatar. I dont like the same stuff i liked just a couple years ago, and i was willling to dish out the $$$ at one point to get something i considerd my 'dream guitar' at the time.


Get a nice LP, its obvious there are ones out there that are more than comparable to this one, and slap a couple of seymour duncans in it. 'nuf said

Hehe well I dont make that much... But I can get it around in a 12month deal where my expenses are 200dollars when the loan is finished.

And I totally agree. There is no sense in why I should buy this guitar... But, I have dreamt of this guitar even before I started playing... And I could buy a regular Custom, but I am afraid, that it will just make me think of "Why didnt I get the one I really wanted?"... Hell I shouldnt have posted the line about the loan, I wasnt looking for advice in that department (No offence).

Get an Edwards and get a better quality guitar for a whole lot less money!

To expand on B2Ds post.

When I first considered this guitar...

1. I have allways wanted a Les Paul.

And since this one was ultimate then it was great.

I also wanted the chrome on custom, and the dirty fingers pickups, and the brass nut.

And when I am done down here, I have gotten a offer to play sessions as a side gig in a studio. A Les Paul and my Strat would be a killer combo for this.

And I have thought of this guitar as a tool. It has certain properties that I really like, such as the maple neck on it.

And the value on it wont deprice insanely, and its a collectors item.

I have spent about 1year thinking about this, and I am 100% sure on this guitar

No one has mentioned it yet, but if you buy that guitar GET INSURANCE ON IT!!! Your parents home owners insurance wont cover it. You need special guitar insurance.

That is way to much for a guitar. If you are really his fan why not get a custom and modify it the same way he did? That seems a more fitting tribute than buying something with his name on it.

A 3 piece maple neck - WTF? that's Ibanez specs... you're not buying a Les Paul here.

If you would consult with LP experts here they would tell you it's not the best guitar you can buy, no matter what the price is.

That's because it copies the specs of the JS LesPaul that was made in '78. Back then they were like that. That's why I suggest buying a real '78 Les Paul that costs $2000 and modding it.

I know it copies those specs. Those are still not the best specs for a Les Paul, they are actually not close to what most people consider to be optimal LP specs.

That's a stupid reason for buying this guitar, I have 3 black guitars (one is an Orville, Gibson Japan, Sykes LP that I paid alot less for). Reasons like this don't help your argument, in fact they show a lack of required maturity.

Got a loan on my guitar as well, a V Faded, not expensive, but an easy solution and it didn't cost me a lot more than saving up for it. When I played the first note in the store I knew this was my guitar, if it would've costed $6500 I would also have bought it. There was this magical chemistry between me and the axe, and for me that is priceless.
If I wouldn't have had my Faded V I would've probably done the same thing you're about to do, buy a way overpriced guitar with a loan. And play the **** out of it.

For the record (this seems to be important to you guys) I've been playing for seven years and I'm sixteen years old.

I do hafta say this...if you DONT like it: This guitar will NOT have the resale value or collectibility of various other historic type or custom shop models you think it will. Artist sig models, barring the Rossington and Pagey models just dont command the $ (and they do because they are basically copies of two extremely famous bursts, not a norlin maple neck).

FWIW, Nov 20th is a good day for guitar related things: Rid, Myself, and Duane Allman were born on that day, LOL so we can send some good guitar mojo your way :bigthumb:

And Pierre.. I know about this, but the Les Paul is quite versatile.

Btw to add... I have tried a John Sykes VOS one time before.. And it felt like my Charvel, which is my favorite guitar, and 10times better. I just connected with the guitar, and its the best Les Paul I have ever tried
