New Gibson Studio you might like

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Holy ****!!! I love it. I really need a new amp, but when I saw this I immediately started coming up with ideas of how I could get around not having one for a while lol.

:D

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

They're finally doing what I thought they should have been doing all along. The 90's Gem Series were the only Studios that ever perked my interest.

Let's be honest.....nobody really wants a LP Studio with humbuckers. It's just a budget poor man's attempt at buying a Std. There's nothing to be proud about owning a humbucking Studio. But if they always were P-90 guitars, the whole point of the Studio line would be realized as desireable. And they should also put out a mini humbucker line of Studios.

Heck, just reinvent the entire Studio line as P-90 and mini humbucker, as far as I'm concerned.

I couldn't agree with you more. Also I think all of the models should at least have the maple binding around the edges, not just the gold top one. It looks really cool. p90s rawk :headbang:

Brutal honesty, but truthful nonetheless :D In complete agreement with everything you said here (especially with minis)

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Nice. I want one... Its about time Gibson did something right with the Studio series. The p90's are a great option and these guitars look "right" to me... :14:

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Just bought my Custom.

Just sold an amazing goldtop Traditional.

Been GASing for a P90 goldtop I could tune really low and gig without worrying.

Then this comes out.

$850 new is totally doable but not right this moment. In the meantime I'm gonna need all of you guys to buy two or three of them and saturate the used market. Thanks.

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Is it solid mahogany? Or does it have a maple cap? It looks like the lack of maple might account for the price difference, but I didn't go to gibson.com to check.
From what I've read it's a chambered body with a maple cap.
The GT has a "natural" binding on the body the others don't.

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Excellent observation. Get them P-90's Studios everywhere.

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Nice looking guitar and a decent price considering that I've seen used Studio Gems going for about the same with lots of dings.

Not sure about the chambered body though. I like my LPs at about 9 pounds.

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

I know you're all about the P90/Goldtop combo...but I'd seriously get the honey burst, keep the neck P90 and route the bridge for a humbucker. I really dig that P90/hummer combo, just kind of hate the BFGs they come in.

Re: New Gibson Studio you might like

Any truth to the rumors that they only made 1000 of these?

There's a few other colors not listed there...

From what I'm hearing the grand total was 150 of each.

No idea if that's entirely true or not, but pictures are floating around and there's nothing on Gibsons site not to mention that very few, if any dealers know about 'em.

"Usually Ships in 1 to 3 Months"

No instant gratification there.

Yeah, same here.

I've never liked Gold Tops. Or gold hardware. In fact, I don't want gold anywhere near my guitar. Except maybe on the tip of the lead. Which is apparently a good thing.
