Would an Orange Micro Terror / Tiny Terror / Dark Terror Orange Head (20/15/15 watts) with a 120 watt cab be good for playing live shows ??

With a 120 watt cab you mean? The wattage on the cab is the what the watt rating is. So, it doesn't matter if you have a 120 watt cab, if you have a 15 watt head like a Dark Terror, you'll still be getting a 15 watt amount of power.
If you meant using a Terror head into a 120 watt power amp into a cab, that would most definitely be gig worthy. (assuming my logic is correct.)
But, if you were thinking of using that combo, you could just get a Thunderverb head instead, I'm told the dark terror uses a similar pre-amp voicing.
(more experienced players, if I'm wrong about anything, PLEASE correct me.)
I could definitely play my TH30 at the 15 watts setting live. However, the clean tones would have a good amount of break-up if I had to compete with a loud drummer. Still, if it's miked-up, no problem with monitors.
I'm assuming a micro terror wouldn't have anything close to clean at that point, based on the clips I've heard...
yes, it will be loud enough
yes you can mike it
but, there is a reason that folks use more power
thats why I dig my Orange thunderverb 50 for live shows![]()
I own a epiphone valve junior and my guitarist in my last band played his through a half stack. it is loud enough, and a good mixing engineer can make anything be loud enough and well mixed enough in a mix. the mic might not pick up that much bass though.I'm assuming for "real" big shows, at proper venues it will be mic'd. Have you used low wattage heads live ?

But for example at a bar, with a drummer, other guitarist, and bassist (not currently :/) will a 20 watt micro terror, and a 120 watt 2x12 cab be loud enough ?

In speaking purely of being loud enough, yes. I have a tiny terror. The rhythm guitar player has a 5150, and the bass player has an ampeg sitting on a 4x10 cab. It's loud enough but as mentioned before, it will break up if trying to use it clean but it sounds like you want it dirty. In that case, crank it and let it rip.
for shows I recommend a tube amp! depending on whatever type of metal, I do not recommend anything less than 30 watts of tube tone!
ha!
my opinion is mine![]()
A tiny terror is a very loud 15 watts, especially if you have efficient speakers in your cab. And they sound great turned up all the way. I use mine with the gain on about 3 and the volume on 7, and use pedals for my OD tones. If you need to rock, turn the volume up to 9-10 and turn the gain up to taste. You'll have crunch, sustain, & hot lead tones. These small amps don't have the low end grunt that the big iron 50 or 100 watt Oranges have, but if you pair it with the right speakers & cab you'll be in good shape. Love my TT.
