I know, I basically already asked this question, but I've added a poll for this reason: logic not opinion. The situation I find myself in is, I want have passive pickups installed, but if I got the torero it would have to be a total rewire, and the torero already costs more. I like them both, I just want to avoid GAS after I buy. The other issue, the torero is neck-thru the Schecter is set. Base your votes without bias to shape or brand name etc... BTW I have nothing against active pickups, but I don't like EMG tone. Please provide reasoning behind your votes. Thanks again.

I'm biased against PRS, and generally respect schecters in their price range

That being said, every PRS I've played up to the $2k ones felt like a dull toy, and the schecter I had felt solid and had character

plus ebony boards are tits

Blinded, I checked those out and that would put me back to much money wise, and their body shapes are (excluding the Kelly) are very average.

Re: PRS torero vs Schecter Synyster special

I voted PRS, as I can never in good faith support anything remotely related to Avenged Sevenfold. Ugh.

This.
Same.

It wouldn't actually matter to me if the Schecter was a better guitar all around.

Hell, pick another Schecter that has what you need and buy that.

Just not that :::thing:::, ugh.

You're quickly becoming Iceman.

I'd have to go with, out of those two, the PRS. I'd buy a different Schecter. Just not that Schecter. It's ****in' retarded looking.

Dominus, I appreciate your idea, but alas I dislike bolt-ons. How am I quickly becoming Iceman? Confused... I think I will go for the torero if I can find a local tech to rewire it when the time comes. Thanks guys, NAD on the way BTW

Comparable Schecters.
Set neck with 24 frets, FR and humbuckers:
Synyster Gates Special - Invaders. $850
Blackjack ATX C-1 FR - Blackouts. $900
Hellraiser Special C-1 FR - EMGs. $680
Hellraiser C-1 FR - EMGs. $900

Same but TOM bridge:
Blackjack ATX Avenger - Blackouts. $750
Blackjack ATX C-1 - Blackouts. $750
Blackjack ATX Solo 6 - Blackouts. $750
Hellraiser C-1 - EMGs. $750
Hellraiser Solo-6 - EMGs. $750
35th Anniversary C-1 - EMGs. $1600

All that said, I'd still get the Torero.
I've played enough Schecters to realize that they're a great deal for under $600/650 marked down/used. But not more than that.
If you're gonna spend more than $600, buy the Torero.

And I *like* the FR Hellraisers. I'll probably pick one up some day, just to have one.

Re: PRS torero vs Schecter Synyster special

Ive always liked the Avenger shape.. Long before Gates used them.. So, Id go that route. unless you are a fan and or really like the guitars decor, get a used one thats plain..
The Torero to me was about $2-300 over priced and yes, a full rewire would be required .

As far as liking of disliking a7x. Whether you are a big fan or not, I say give em some Kudos for helping revive guitar driven rock

Re: PRS torero vs Schecter Synyster special

You already know where I'm standing.

I have no feelings for PRS either way, I think the Torero is cool (especially in that blue) but I'm no fan of the EMGs in general.
On the other hand if you were to go with Duncan Blackouts or similar it'd be as simple as unplugging one pickup and plugging the other. No re-wiring needed. BUT, you'd be replacing one active pickup for another.

On the other side of the argument, I can't deny I have a special preference to Schecter in general while the Avenger shape is one of my non-strat favorites (the other being the Explorer and similar). If it weren't for those inlays and the gaudy headstock I'd really love it.
From where I'm standing the SG logo-ed knobs would be literally the very first thing to go with the Invaders being a close second for sth more manageable (well, unless they split/parallel as heavenly as I've read some people in these forums say, then perhaps the bridge could stay with a push/pull added :9:).

Unfortunately the SGS is a case of close but not quite, however if it were me, between the two I'd choose the Schecter, and then pay someone to make it look a little more normal without butchering her in the process... (zebra pickups and chrome knobs would do wonders, just sayin' ;))

Explain how this is average. Especially against the Torero. And the price is less than either.

Re: PRS torero vs Schecter Synyster special

No, I called up a local music place and they gave me a number for a guy that they trust with a rewire.
